Possible Corrupt Bug

Hey there!

I guess, I found da Bug.
I had Demonic Studies active and played a Demon for 6 Mana, which costs 7 in the original and I had Tickatus in the Hand, which costs 5, bec. of Demonic Studies.
After I played the Demon for 6., Tickatus doesn’t Corrupted.

Without Demonic Studies, if would corrupted easily, bec of 7 Mana Demon and Tickatus 6 Mana. But not with Demonic Studies…

I played in Duels and got Tickatus from the Studies.

the cost adjustment from studies cards are gone as soon as you play one of the discounted cards. meaning as soon as you played your reduced demon for 6 mana tickatus will go back to 6 mana before the card will check the mana cost for corruption and will therefore not be correupted.

That’s a dumb interaction for me. :frowning:
But thanks for the explanation.

You are correct, this is a terrible buggy mechanic and I hope Blizz fixes it to match their OWN STUPID RULE TEXT.

  1. " Corrupt is an ability introduced in Madness at the Darkmoon Faire which activates when the user plays a card with a higher mana cost than the corrupt card’s cost while in hand, causing it to transform into a corrupted card and gain additional effects."
  2. Corrupt triggers on the current cost of both cards. Playing a card with a reduced cost will not trigger Corrupt if you paid less than the Corrupt card’s cost. Conversely, lowering a Corrupt card’s cost will make Corrupting it easier.”

Their own rules show the card should trigger off the cost IN THE HAND at the time it is played, but instead a 5 cost demon will not trigger corrupt on a 4 cost demon in hand. This is terrible design and shows a lack of testing.

because the decrease in cost from studies is removed the very moment you play the card
