The points you gain or lose are related to the MMR of the other lobby members. Anyone you’re seeing get higher 1st place gains at 8k rating were in a lobby with people that had a higher MMR in proportion to their own than yku had in yours.
This is why in some lobbies it’s actually possibke to lose points for 4th place, while other times you usually gain.
So, you are telling me that at this point of the game there are more people at 8k then 6k?
Well dosent matter i found the reason in a youtube video.
thx blizzard kekw
Apparently Blizzard thinks having to work back every month to the place you already deserves to be is an achievement that motivates players to return every month.
I’d argue it’s an example of data-driving off a cliff.
It’s been working with ranked players for six years, all the way from old rank 15 to consistent top 100 legend pros. I’m not shocked they’re applying it to BGs as well.
I didn’t know any of the above. So I’m kind of shocked that a system is in place which favours people who are already on the top and destroys a fair competition.
Why would it destroy competition? You’re still generally being matched against people of similar skill as your own, that’s the whole point of the hidden MMR.
It causes people to graduate back towards their proper location at a quicker rate, rather than 14k rating players spending more time beating up 5k players and such to get there.
It’s been implemented. I’d question whether it’s working.
New Patch, new way to play the game? Or are the Top players some omnipotent beings who doesn’t need to play their way through the ranks and learn the patch. I just hit 7K btw, seeing people on Twitch lose more games then winning and still make 2k ranks is just a punch in my face.
I mean, I’m not really a Battlegrounds expert, but the game didn’t seem radically different from before the reset. If anything, an MMR reset would be more unfair because it would put streamers and high rank players against new/average players which would result in the average players getting crushed.
