Please disable use of emoticons during Battleground turns to prevent toxicity

just because you repeat the same point over and over that doesn’t make it valid.

maybe it bothers some people and maybe other people are not bothered. personally i like BG emotes and wish it was how the base games emotes worked.
but i can understand why people want squelch. people have asked for it for years. also the fact that you have to PAY for them might bother people who dont have them, that is reason enough alone to let them mute it.

You are very strangely strongly opposed to an addition in the BG which has 0 affect on your gameplay. BG squelch would make some ppl happy and do nothing to you. You are against ppl being happy? Very sad.

I do think the option for auto-squelch in casual/ranked/arena would be good, and squelch support in BGs might be good as well. I care less about the latter as (like many people have said) they have no intrinsic meaning like the normal emotes do. I definitely don’t think it’s worth getting tilted over an ambiguous emoji.

If disabling the emojis would be technically unfeasible due to them tying closely to the tavern up/etc. indicators, then their devs coded themselves into a corner. There’s no reason they should need to be related.

My biggest pet peeve is when I’m playing someone using Sir Annoy-o and squelching doesn’t shut up the random emotes about time running out, being low on cards, etc. I really find him to be incredibly annoying, like nails on chalkboard bothersome, and not being able to shut him up frustrates me a lot. Thankfully his prevalence has dropped off quite a bit with the addition of Lightforged Uther.

Just because you don’t have a problem with them doesn’t mean they’re not a problem for any one else.

To be honest, the emotes from standard and BG’s aren’t really comparible. The emotes in standard are very much in your face and come with sound… So yeah I understand why they annoy people, and even I’ll squelch if someone is spamming them. However the emotes in BG’s are really unintrusive. Honestly I don’t even notice them half the time, so I can’t really understand why people get annoyed by them. But I guess things effect us all differently, maybe it’s something they’ll look into for the future. However I don’t think it’s something that should be a priority anytime soon.

because you don’t have to pay to get them in standard

Wouldn’t it be easier just to add the squelch to battlegrounds? I mean the reporting would be nice I guess, but emotes are just part of the game bro. Being upset that people are using an in game feature is just going to make the game experience bad for you.

Yes. His point is that they shouldn’t be part of the game. So you’re argument against him is basically that it can’t be changed because it’s already there.

I would argue that it’s not part of the game, which is supposed to be the card battler part.

Not saying the emotes should be removed, but it’s definitely not a necessary part of the game itself. Auto-squelch can really solve a lot of headache for some people. I think it’s a modest request.

Anyone against auto-squelch, in my opinion, just wants others who do not want emotes to be forced to see them emote. Which I think is even more of a mental problem than the claim that people who can’t handle a “harmless” emote have a problem.

Honestly people been asking for option for auto-spuelch. It isn’t going to be added for sure, but I could be wrong. Auto-spuelch can really help a lot in the community.

Help what exactly? What does squelch of any form really enhance?

Neither were exploding sheep in Warcraft. Blizzard is known for adding fun extras to their games. It has been the #1 reason I’ve supported them from the beginning.

But because there are some who take the competitiveness of the game to an unhealthy level for the general population, they have already eased back on it.

There are monuments to fallen players in WoW for crying out loud. Tell me they don’t pay attention to the player base.

I’m not trying to diminish the feelings of those that get offended when they pop up. Not in the least. I’m trying to show people that the more you ask to make things like this optional, the less likely they are to even bother giving the option.

Will the real Blizzard Entertainment please stand up?

people who get so angry about BG emoticons must be making the conscious choice to stare at that corner of the screen and decided to get offended by whatever they see poping up

the emotes in normal games have sounds and are hard to ignore because of it so is easier to understand

never going happen, it took 5 years just get squelch

That’s just not true. Squelch has been in the game since the beginning.

Well in that case:how about give us the opportunity to buy some emotes in standard (without voice) that can not be blocked!

I am pretty sure they would sell reasonably well lol,why bliz dont do this?
I guess constructed is aimed at a younger audience while bg is aimed at a more mature audience who should be able to deal with getting emoted.

Now personally i dont really mind though i got annoyed with it once (and only once) because some dude just kept emoting over and over which was kinda childish. For such situations squelch would be nice.

like this one guy beat me 2 times in the early game hitting me for 6 and 8 because he rng a cannon and I didnt, after this thread when knocking him out I am giving him a  :fish:

it enhances the enjoyment of the game over all for people who want it…

I agree and I don’t understand why the devs put toxic emotes in the game from the start… they can’t do sh*t right

Removing is not enhancing. I don’t care how you slice it. But that is the direction of the cancel culture of today.

Until you live through entire levelling zones being locked down for a few hours by the opposing faction while you’re 1/3 of the way to level cap and useless to do anything about it other than log off for a bit… You do not know griefing.

I get the desire for the feature. I don’t support removing or hiding cosmetics though. Unless it is game breaking of course.

removing water from a sauce enhances the flavor.

so are we gratekeeping grief now?
