Please Abandon Duels. Spend Resources Elsewhere

Obligatory: I’ve never left a post on HS forums. Been playing for many years. Reached legend years ago blah blah.

I like to have fun from time to time. Every so often, I’m in a positive enough mood to switch to the duels mode in Hearthstone.

I have played some off-brand, wonky stuff in my time on Earth - duels can get lost. It has been in beta for god-knows how long, and you people keep trying to balance it - right?

Why? But I ask again - Why?

Why do you hold on to even a scrap of this terrible, death trap of fun? How could you?

I mean, you people make games. You’re invested in fun, right? I’ve searched for other opinions on duels. Not surprised. If you completely abandoned it and spent resources on more PVE or w/e, I think we’d be happy. We may not notice.

This is NOT what customers are asking for.

I played Duels again this week for the first time in a long time (like 4 months I think).

The buckets are atrocious. They are so dumb and make no sense. That has to change.

With that being said, I actually had fun. I lost a lot to some broken stuff. But then I got to play with Elise for about 5 runs and on the 6th run I had a working idea and ended up going 12-0 with a homebrew that was extremely fun to play, and even beat some of the crazy broken stuff that’s now banned (Diablo + Rattlegore).

I just wish they would change the buckets. I should not get offered cards that say “draw a secret from your deck” when I’m running a deck that literally has no secrets.

why do you care so much about other playing duels ?

so much you want blizzard to stop those players from playing the mode by asking for the mode to be shut the mode down!

I played duels when it came out for 1-2 hours and that’s my entire experience with that mode.

is that"draw a secret one two or all of them

i noticed sometimes out of the 3 i can only choose one because the other 2 dont synergize with my deck at all

doesnt feel like a choice

I wish I understood your post.

I think I was able to gleam what is meant.

I read this as Is that "draw a Secret" One, two, or all three buckets?

After I read it as that, the rest of the post makes perfect sense. As many times it does indeed feel like there isnt an actual choice being offered. What I hate is many times it wont offer me anything of synergy for multiple rounds in a row. Both times I get offered passives frequently give me non effectual options that make no sense for my deck or hero power. Im frequently offered 2 discovery themed passives and a divine shield passive for the 1st round passive picks… and I lack any discovery of any kind at all in said deck, as well ad having 0 divine shield of any source in it. Then when the 2nd passive is offered I’ll get the 2 deathrattle themed ones and the other divine shield option. Again, no deathrattles at all and still 0 divine shield options a whole 2 rounds later lol.

This happens in about 5 out of 6 runs which is why a lot of my runs are 0-3 or 1-3 if im lucky.

If they were invested in fun, we’d stop having to pay for Battlegrounds rewards. And balance patches would roll out more quickly, and feedback would be more frequent from the development team regarding player feedback.

Have you played Mercenaries yet? That’s where their PvE focus has gone, or went and no longer is there. We don’t get mercenaries updates or balances much per content patch unless it’s a major issue (because you can PvP in Mercenaries too, despite it being mostly a PvE mode).

However, as a fan of Kobolds and Catacombs’ solo adventure and the others that followed it regarding the “rogue-like” gameplay, would be fun if -that’s- what duels was. A PvE, still “Arena-like” challenge against bots with increasing bull-spit powers that you get a thing for clearing it 12-X<3 or X-3.

Duels and occasional BGs are the modes I find interesting these days.

The issue is you can say this same thing about 50%+ of the available game modes. There simply aren’t enough people playing them to justify dropping resources into them. The problem is Blizzard will never remove them because creating new ways to play the same broken game is the only way they can convince people to still play Hearthstone and spend money on it.

Ffs, they removed Hearthstone from THEIR OWN EVENT, which happens to coincidentally be ONE OF THE LARGEST VIDEO GAME EVENTS EACH YEAR.

I hate to say it, but as long as Hearthstone is just good enough to keep/get players time/money, they ultimately don’t care about it.

What are you talking about?

I do not like pistachio ice cream. I cannot, after significant time trying to understand, understand how it is that anyone can believe that pistachio ice cream is a good idea. All I can come up with by focusing on the question is disgust.

But I don’t go around demanding that Baskin Robbins stop selling pistachio ice cream. Because I don’t need to understand why some people like it. I only need to understand that some people like it. This is sufficient.

OP, stop being a selfish control freak. Make your peace with people liking things that you don’t.

As plenty people pointed out in that thread already,
they didnt remove it,
Hearthstones original full name, is Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
Hearthstone is within the (World of) Warcraft universe.
If anything, one u should be more concerned about is the SC removal.
(and even that one is likely because it is far outdated, no longer getting a lot of content)

edit; if you even need more confirmation of this, one of the characters in the art for the virtual ticket, is holding cards from the game lol

Not Gonna Lie. I only play Duels lol.
I do hate how broken some combos are after certain releases, like even just Diablo being included in Duels is very unbalanced imo. They ruined a game mode’s little amount of balance to advertise some Diablo IV. Sigh.

But, I really enjoy Duels. I don’t play any other mode anymore. I did Legend awhile ago now. And find ranked mode to be very pretentious and I hate peoples lack of creativity to create original decks. Instead it’s just about what’s the most broken thing to win right away. I wish they would add some solo adventures aspects of Bobs Tavern to Duels.

I like duels well enough. That’s where I fart around most often.
Standard and wild are just the same broken loser decks over and over, so I don’t invest too much there. Actually I do enjoy playing bad decks and trolling my opponents that have broken decks. That’s where I have fun.

heh heh m heh heh.

I still havent spent anything to play Duels to this day. having the casual mode and all.

also, regarding the whole Hearthstone being within the World of Warcraft Universe…

Im awaiting the announcement of the next big thing. World of StarCraft, followed by a minigame franchise for mobile that is named Spider-Mine-Sweeper. Followed by the FPS for consoles that is essentially “Black Ops : Zombies” mode but called something like “Ghost Ops: Infested Terrans”

But until then I guess if you really wish me to spend my resources elsewhere than in duels… I guess StarCraft 64 it is then.

The bucket change that ruined the mode was specifically so they could spend resources elsewhere.

Basically, enough people spend a few bucks there to keep it open but not enough people to actually maintain the mode well.
