Similar to when an expansion is released with broken cards, players often rather blame others for having ‘asked for it’ instead of the developer. Developers aren’t here interacting with their players? Oh, well, it must be that the players are too mean. Honestly, GTFO. It is on the developer to devise a way to communicate with its players, if that is a priority. This is online gaming, and online gaming has been afflicted with toxicity since its beginning. Any developer should be able to realize this and deal accordingly. And T5 does deal with this because interaction is not a priority, and so there is little interaction.
So, how 'bout them Yankees?
I live in New York City and just realized I know absolutely nothing about the Yankees
May I ask what’s your disability if it’s not too personal ?
That reminds me of NoHandsGamer (a professional Hearthstone player) who can’t use his hands very much and controls his mouse with his eyes.
Basically what you said smacks of telling someone to have a “stiff upper lip”, “walk it off, you’ll be fine”, “buck up buttercup”, etc. It’s calloused at best, makes it sound like you’re not so interested in their well-being than being some kind of out-of-touch Mr. Fix-It with a “one-size-fits-all” solution to every personal problem, which can get annoying depending on the severity of the problem. Only thing that comes close to a “one-size-fits-all” is actually caring about their pain & struggle, which I’m not detecting from you in the slightest.
I always thought every great artist is invariably their own worst critic, they absolutely hate any and all previous work, the flaws forefront in their mind. So when others call attention to these same obvious flaws it should be no surprise. Whoever feels personally attacked by being told their game sucks is in the wrong profession!
It feels like the sentiment is something like, “All I wanted was to put smiles on faces and you guys are tearing me to pieces for it.” IMO it should be more like, “All I wanted was to kick sass” and if the game doesn’t kick sass they ought to know and maybe do better.

It likely would be for some, but I do want to talk about it. I have always had asthma, but it’s been getting worse over the last few years, and it’s triggered by nearly everything with an odor, though artificial odors are usually worse for me. Because I live in the city, the second I leave my apartment I’m accosted by all kinds of perfume and cigarettes and fabric softener and deodorant and disinfectant smells and I have difficulty breathing. You can also imagine the way people look at someone constantly coughing, especially in the age of covid.
This is Skizzy posting from my 2nd account which I almost never use.
A lot of posts are missing from this thread now. Almost unbelievably, my regular account was banned for responding to someone who told me to “overcome” my disability by saying they were a bad person. This is really ridiculous and upsetting.
Player Toxicity is driving developers away from it’s forums?
WOW!!! Really blizzard? I mean really… that’s a bunch of BS if I ever heard some. a $6 Billion dollar company can’t figure out how to interact with its player base.
Step #1 Hire someone who know how to talk to people
Step #2 Give them the tools to be able to handle and interact with Player base
Step #3 Actually put in the time to show you CARE about your player base.
Blizzard didn’t say that though.
These are the biggest snowflake developers on the planet.
Working for a physical store results in complaints from the person standing right in front of you, but these developers can’t handle visiting their own forum and are crying foul if a person on the other side of the world makes an “unwelcoming comment” on their own forum.
Jesus christ, do they wrap these developers in protective bubble wrap before they go online or something.
Why the hell are these people involved in game development if they can’t even handle talking to their customers on a forum.
“This is your computer were you will be interacting with your users. To the left is your stress ball, to the right is the alarm bell. If you see anyone make a harmful comment, you push the bell, we will come in and rescue you.”
They are also the ones who we are paying to make a product for. We are more than justified in expressing when we are not satisfied with the product. Now, when people take it too far and call them names or even threaten them, that’s unacceptable. However, they just ignore valid criticism and have straight up lied about things. (Does no one remember when they lied about the battle pass???) They’re not our friends and are taking our money, it should be the norm that they communicate on the forums, but I truly believe they don’t because they don’t have valid defenses for their choices, so they just pretend we don’t exist.
Yeah, but if they truly wanted to make the game better, they would communicate on why they do certain things. From our POV, the two weeks of lunacy mage seemed like they didn’t care about the state of the meta. The constant ticketus posts show that a huge portion of the community hates the card, but I have not seen a dev try to explain why they think it’s good for the game. Even if I disagreed with them, I would be more accepting of their choices if they actually owned up to them instead of pretending we don’t exist.
From your POV maybe. I’ve read enough about what they’ve said in other places to understand why the nerf took two weeks. I don’t understand why devs need to repeat themselves across multiple platforms to say roughly the same things. That seems like a waste of dev time.
Then you haven’t been looking.
You can always go and engage with the devs on a different platform. They’re there, and they’re often responsive to questions. Seems silly to expect devs to engage with the playerbase across multiple platforms, since that is not really their job description.
I mean, there was a long chunk of time before they commented on it, and it wouldn’t really be that hard to copy and paste the same announcement on their official forums for the game. You would think this would be the most important platform to announce things on, no?
Not really. The more I look at it, the more I find that forums aren’t particularly useful methods of communication. They’re great for community discussion, but as interaction between a few devs and a ton of other players, they’re kinda clunky.
A lot of the major Hearthstone devs are pretty active on Twitter, and often discuss things there. Nothing stops you from joining the conversation other than some (IMO, unjustified) belief that the conversation should take place here.
The devs have chosen their engagement platforms. It’s your choice whether to go and seek them there or wait until someone who does reposts their comments here.
“customer is always right” is exactly that - a motto
in fact its based on marketing/purchases not “whatever a customer says is correct” it is actually about what customers DO, and less about what they say
e.g. if you bring out a service/product and noone uses/buys it then, no matter how much you like it or how amazing it is, then you are either 1. bad at advertising its’ intended purpose (or pitched it to wrong audience) or 2. it is not what customers want
then it is up to you to listen/learn
At the end of the day it’s still up to the company to decide what to change. It’s not up to the customer.
No one goes into a restaurant and says “This food is bad. Let me show you how to cook it instead.”
No one goes into an auto repair shop and says “You did a poor job. Let me show you how to fix my car.”
At least no one sensible. I’m sure this has happened a few times in history. Maybe even some of those people are professional chefs/automotive repair people. But that’s a minority of a minority.
There are a lot of gamers who think they are so much smarter than devs. So much more qualified than devs to design and balance games. Why do they get so mad by being ignored when their ignorance is the problem?
It’s really just silly how many gamers have never spent a single second actually designing or developing a game. Or they think they have but they are just copy pasting what someone else developed.
I know… I didn’t realize that fact till it was pointed out… I always wondered why he went by nohands.
I also have a disability… I was born with vertebrates c2 and c3 fused together with spinal stenosis. Back in 2017… I got hammered drunk and fell face first and it caused my head to go back to far… So because c2 and c3 were naturally fused instead of getting whiplash I got quadriplegic for several months… I didn’t think I was ever going to walk again but I did.
However, I now have permanent nerve damage with neuropathy. Movement on my entire left side is affected this includes my left hand…(I’m naturally lefthanded). My left hand has no fine motor control and is always numb or tingly like it fell asleep. My left foot is also always numb and tingly. A lot more is affected but way to personal to get into however. I also developed a opiate addiction to go on top of my alcoholism so I spent some time in rehab in 2020. And I’m still clean.
Long story short it’s the main reason I play so much hearthstone… It’s a game I can play on my Android with just my right hand.
Some people just suck and are crappie people. Don’t let them bother you, they’ll get there’s one day.
That’s crazy… Why’d they ban you?
This post should be kept alive for many players who not only participate but just read the forums. I come to this forum often just to read the things that are being said like suggestions or opinions. Too often I find so much negativity, which most people call “toxic” behavior. These kinds of comments aren’t usually directed towards the devs, but toward other players. And any reply like this is “the norm for any gaming community” is absurd and sickening.
‘There is no more neutrality in the world. You either have to be part of the solution, or you’re going to be part of the problem.’
