As a DK player I agree with you and things like plagues and bombs should not count since they are already cast when drawn.
If play mage use Under the Sea the plague count as a spell too.
No one enjoys plagues. It is a horrible design and a horrible implementation.
Yes… 90% of why I dislike helya’s infinite splashable plagues is because of how many things they passively mess with.
Anything that draws a spell
Anything that modifies the next spell drawn
Anything that modifies the next spell cast
Anything that puts your deck in a specific order, or stuff on top/bottom
Anything that draws your lowest cost cards
The fact it comes with inevitability, random Mana curve screwing, and all that stuff just makes plagues a miserable game experience.

From the fact that Helya has no conditions to activate and passively disrupts a half dozen different deck mechanics without any counterplay herself? Yes.
Tech cards should be more narrow than that. They shouldn’t be a disruption and win condition all rolled into one card.
Like imagine just sticking 1 damage per turn for the rest of the game and also randomly shuffle the deck and also sometimes mess up your opponent’s spell synergies onto viper. It would be dumb.
It just starts to do too much for 1 card.

Eh, 1 dng per turn is probably pretty close to Helya over a longer game since hers becomes more powerful than that the longer the game goes and also comes with extra effects I left out of the theoretical viper.
