Pirates need a nerf in BG

And the Sky Pirate infinite loop needs to be sorted as well. Any other spawn minion doesn’t spawn if there is no space, but this minion in particular not only spawns, but is buffed as well as if it is there.

I see heaps of posts from last year about it too, but it hasn’t been resolved. Patches is basically an instant first place for me.

What exactly do you think is wrong with pirates?

I am playing trash tier right now (7k+) but I see lots of things winning, not just pirates. BG are pretty balanced right now imo.

If you see pirates, patches is great. If you don’t see them early, it can be a slog. That’s in line with the other tribe specific heroes. If I get token murloc with flurgl turn 1 I am almost guaranteed top two finish. Chen is same if you get sellementals early.

I have only seen that Sky pirate build once in all the BG I play, and I play a pretty large amount of bg.

Edit: I just crushed patches and his pirates with a menagerie build, which is the strongest build if you can pull it off. Between the cleave, poison, and stats its unstoppable.

bg’s in general need a total shake on the meta… this mid game garbage is terrible.

Pirates are carried by Eliza. Other than that play deflecto when you can reliably buff them for a top 4 or get lightfang with divine shields then get amalgadons end game. Meta needs a change for sure as there are way too many garbage minions diluting the pool to go for 1 tribe without rolling all your gold away. The taunt package I really dislike, and the new Barren blacksmith card just makes early game even more frustrating when your opponent has it early.

It’s amusing to think of the 94th percentile as “trash tier.”

Wow, I missed those stats, but I would say that if those are a month old then they are likely not entirely accurate because people will continue to climb over the last 30 days.

Still, that’s some interesting numbers and I wish they would publish more like that.

I still don’t see pirates as busted. Mythrax can swing an entire lobby, though.

They are also abysmally weak to poison, since they can’t get divine shield nor cleave nor realiable deathrattle spawns, they are just big bodies

To what are you referring, specifically, if I may ask?

HS replay has top 20% at 7100+ and top 5% at 9200+ right now.

I have been tanking my rating today to see if the games change as I go down. I am down to about 5300 at this point, and there are some really big differences.

People don’t tier properly really, really jumps out. People seem to pick a comp and not properly develop their board while tiering up, so they seem to be fishing for minions in the first 8 turns, which is absolute fail strategy if there is a competent player(s) in the lobby.

Not surprising, since people who use HDT are likely to be of higher ranking, on average, than people who don’t. I’m at 6k MMR and play Battlegrounds primary on my phone, so I wouldn’t really show up in HSR’s data.

While this is likely true, there has also likely been additional drift in scores since Dean’s numbers. I would love for Dean et al. to share that stuff more frequently about more than just BGs.

Wow. Almost impossible to do high apm on I phone, I imagine.

I used to play HS on mobile, but never BGs.

Oh, definitely. It would be interesting to see how much drift there actually is, and whether that changes once rating floors are reintroduced.

Easiest is infinite pirates. I had a 140/125 salty looter last week… next to a 173/158 gold grubber, lol.

And I am so stoked I managed to pull off brb today. So annoying to win first with that crappy hero much less skip an extra turn and do it. You can’t even freeze the damn tavern.
