Pets coming to Hearthstone?

So my roommate just took a survey through Hearthstone that spoke of pets possibly coming to Hearthstone.

In this survey, the devs were curious as to how likely they were to purchase said possible pets with a variety of price ranges from $99 (lol) to $5 (usd)

Pets may possibly interact with the board, sit on the side or even be used as replacement timers. Possibly even dealing damage to other players and/or cast spells even possibly helping you.

My roommate was told to keep this confidential which they agreed. I didn’t agree soooo… Here’s what the devs are planning for the future of hearthstone.

It depends on the survey feedback. They might scrap the idea.

I’m also playing Magic the Gathering Arena and pets are used in this game.

Both players can have a little creature or object which is placed to the left and right side of the field. They react if you take damage and cheer you on if the opponent takes damage.

Ah. I wasn’t aware. For a second there I thought a member of Team 5 in current year might have had an original idea. Silly me.

The backlash they’ll get if they do this will be unprecedented.

They literally said they stopped developing boards to implement the Pet System.
They can’t go back now. It’s already in the making probably.

They’re just fishing on how much they can get away with pricing.

Eh. Perhaps.

I guess it’s working for MTGA.

In MTGA you can get Pets for Gold (in-game resource).

Else, you can also get them from bundles which include other stuff as well.
I very much doubt Blizzard will be generous and allow people to get Pets for Gold.

I literally burst laughing when they asked me if I would spend $80 for a Pet. They are ridiculous.

In Magic the Gathering Arena the boards are constructed in a way that there is a free spot/platform on both sides of the screen so pets can be placed there.

I can imagine that in Hearthstone the pets are placed in the area of the decks.

Instead of drawing cards a little Murloc might draw the cards and throw them into the hands of the player. He squirms when you take damage and cheers when you deal damage.

I don’t use the pets in MTG Arena because the visuals are nowhere near as good as in Hearthstone. There is a pet which is literally just a rock with glued on eyes.

Properly implemented this could look quite good in Hearthstone.

I would hate pets. End of statement

I want to own a chibi Ben Brode

With all respect.

How much i would pay depends on how good the pets are.

If people want a reference for really good pets there are the chibi champions in TFT.

Also:
Just work with gacha for cosmetics already. The prices are exorbitant otherwise and you’re aimming mobile gamers anyway.

A lot of the surveys they do are nonsense ones just to float around strange ideas. The one I had several months ago were about 3 different expansion themes, one of which was obviously a joke. Looked a lot like a “placebo” survey to me.

Long story short, don’t take what you see in surveys as serious things they plan on implementing.

YGO Master Duel has em. As long as they purchasable with gold (purchasable with in-game currency in Master Duel for context) then i’d get at least one. Maybe if it’s like $4.99 n something i’d reaaaally want, but otherwise not gonna go all spend crazy. They priced themselves outta my market with the $60 Ragnaros hero skin for example

If the pet would obstruct my opponents view of his own board I can see it catching on… otherwise uh who is the exact demographic for such a thing?

Could you possibly imagine anything more useless in a card game… Pets?

For what… 1 extra attack per turn? Or more skins to sell on the stupid cash shop?

I mean, companions are popular and Hunter Beast Mastery allowed for exotic pets to help fight in WoW. At least when I played. I stopped playing after Cataclysm.

I could see a cute little dinosaur chomping at the opponents portrait when I win.

Or the pets playing dead when I lose or something. It’d be fun if I could throw a ball or stick or something while waiting for opponents to play.

I dunno, I’m just spitballing here.

But, for real, dinosaurs or bust. Cause dinosaurs are cool!

It sounds totally stupid to me, but some players are willing to pay for anything, I guess.
A better investment imho, would be to spin Wow Pet Battles off to their own platform.
What HS has to do with pets is beyond me.

If they are purchaseable with gold, maybe.

Another game featuring pet battles would be cool.

However, for HS, I wouldn’t mind companions with a little platform that make expressions as the hero is hit or something. I think it would be cute.

But I do agree their resources are better used elsewhere. It’s nice to dream though.

Ngl this sounds dumb. No wonder hearthstone is spinning around the toilet bowl like a stubborn turd that won’t flush.

Actually, I’m pretty sure other CCGs have similar things so it isn’t unheard of but in those other games, they were designed with that in mind since the beginning. Blizzard trying to implement it after the fact is going to be a hot mess.
