Perils in Paradise First Impression
I’m a wild player, only to the degree of a casual player, meaning I’ve at least made it to Diamond Rank 5 when I put in the effort with Waygate quest mage back in Voyage to the Sunken city.
Which is why I decided to try out the now-nerfed quest mage purely for experiment facing the innkeeper. I had fun playing cards like Tidepool Pupil and Mixologist in combination with Commander Sivara and Rewind. It felt right, like I have hope for Mage in Wild. Although, that may not be the case when I actually play in Wild.
I have other accounts with a fair amount of dust on them. I don’t play Druid, Rogue, or Hunter these days. Word on the street is Druid is getting the ax, yet again. I can imagine Rogue is going to spam coins and Hutner is just running beasts - wonder if they can compete in Wild, then again, Hunter has been a ghost to me.
I have other accounts with a fair amount of dust in them that I still haven’t used on any new Perils in Paradise cards. Frankly, I have no idea what type of deck to make.
My problem with Warrior is there are no armor mechanics. Warlock has the potential for a deathrattle deck, but clearly I don’t see it. Shaman is just a cluster of random minion morphs and a spell school lacking in talent. Priest is obviously going to face us either with shadow- priest or big-priest, which isn’t the direction I hoped hearthstone would be headed. Paladin has the potential for a buff/discount deck but disappoints me in terms of 5/5 pirates (?) and having to rely on rogue cards to snag random minions. Demon Hunter might have a chance for drawing 3 cards for questline action, but why do I have to have 3/1 charge pirates to win every game? I don’t have much to say about Death Knight other than the whole freeze deal is strange if you’re wanting to run rainbow Death Knight decks.
So yeah, not sure where my dust is supposed to go. I may have to wait around and see how things pan out.
For now, I’m glad that Mage may have a fighting chance. Don’t really know why the Waygate quest was nerfed when questline Warlock wasn’t. But again, I don’t play Druid, so no heartbreak in seeing my naturally awesome cards being disenchanted after the inevitable nerf-fest.
