There’s only one playable one, and it’s Crusader Aura–which is basically just used as a budget savage roar to end the game. Maybe there’s a world where these cards aren’t awful (we’ve seen strong “Multiple Turn effects” before like the Shaman 4 mana summon 3 3/4s) but as a concept, buffing auras just doesn’t function since the only good one’s main effect is as a burst finisher.
I see you haven’t played enough games as (or vs) flood pally
You use the aura to value trade to maintain board control and slowly push over 3 turns, or you use it as a finisher, or you use it in combination with showdown to spawn 3x 5/1 minions
It’s almost broken, is what it is (but it’s not broken, because its’ usefulness depends on you having board control already, in most of the cases)
Also, Deputization aura is still used in Handbuff Pally decks - they don’t care about the additional dmg, their minions are already buffed to the roof, they just want lifesteal
Not really.
All of they did see play and wasn’t a little.
Some more than others for sure but even inventor’s aura did see some fringe play in ultra fast mech decks during titans.
What does not exist is an aura archtype and sincerely it is good it doesn’t because it would get old fast.
the two decks im playing rn (a faster variant of exca rogue, and the new burn mage) either win before turn 5/6 or die to the first round of crusader aura attacks.
Sure, but you can’t generalize based on 2 matchups, lol
There’s like, 20+ decks in the meta currently
Deputization Aura was also good until they killed it…
Only because they over nerfed deputization aura. It saw heavy play when it was useful.
I tried some the other day and I must not follow what it does because it wasn’t very good. Seems to just flat fold to any sort of competent control deck. I was not impressed.
Same here
I played 80 games for exactly 50% winrate, I expected much more from it based on its’ stats
It’s a hit or miss deck
Some people are just born lucky, ig
Imagine if savage roar was 3 mana aura that gave all friendly characters +2 attack for 3 turns. It was one part of a combo so devastating to the game they had to remove it (FoN+SR). Of course, 9 mana for 14 immediate damage that must pass Taunts from 2 cards from hand, seems positively tame compared to where we’re at today. Hmmm…
Exactly, whcih is why it was nerfed
Board flood paladin that relies on killing you in a handful of turns is good but has obvious flaws. If you’re up against a deck that can repeatedly use small board wipes to keep your minions down, you’re hosed. This is why handbuff paladin exists, because it can play sticky minions while also building up some fat minions that allow for board control. Buffed up captain + 1 mana tiger plushy can allow you to take down some hefty minion, heal, and keep board control. I like a slower play style myself, so I usually go for handbuff and then 2 cheapie charge minions or 2 pirates + Leroy to finish things off. Most people, aside from warrior, don’t have the luxury of putting out that many fat taunt minions on the board in one turn to get in the way of multiple buffed up chargers. Mech warrior is a bit of a pain in the butt though…those death rattle taunt mechs can do a good job of thinning out your board and reviving them and Zilliax is pretty much game over.
seems like a succesful one
it sees a lot of play
Yes, but it isn’t an AURA, it’s being used as savage roar which is a strong card but not what auras are supposed to be.
def not saying paladin is weak (or OP) just saying auras aren’t fufilling their class fantasy (and I’d prefer to get paladin secrets back next core set)
