Pack Buy Formula for New Expansion

I saw the ‘How much gold do you have? How many unopened packs?’ thread and a post caught my attention.

What do the people of here think is the best formula for how many Packs to buy.
Ofc there is no exact number because the Packs that you’ll find the Legendaries in will be random but …

Let’s say I open my first Legendary in Pack 8 (still in the Drop Packs so I haven’t bought any) and keep going (while buying with Gold) until I get my second Legendary and it’s for instance in Pack 38.

Now … should one make the push here for the 3rd Legendary or shall they stop now and accumulate again. What is a good general number of Packs to buy after your second Legendary or what’s a good number of Legendaries to get before stopping.

Should I stop at 2 Legendaries or 3 … or 4 ← that’s my question

The more the better, but also with diminishing returns.

I forget the exact numbers but it’s around 27 packs to get all commons, 67 packs to get all rares. 150 packs can be enough to get nearly all epics if you also buy the Rewards Track, collect the golden epics and reroll when prompted.

The golden number is something around 80-100 packs for the average player, which should give you around 5 legendaries.

I do not think there is a magic formula, but I personally buy until I have all the commons and rares and spend about 7-8000 gold. The legendary draw rate is wildly inconsistent in such a small sample, so I generally do not worry about it.

More than how many packs I open, the thing I do differently is just wait to craft things in new expansions.

I am fortunate to have done this long enough to sufficient resources to craft a card or two when the meta settles and I pick a deck or three to focus on.

Idk, since dust is a thing anyway and any amount of packs can get you a legendary (there’s a guaranteed chance by pack but I don’t think there’s an upper limit to getting lucky) I’d say buying as many packs as you can is always the way to go. Unless you already have most or all you need obviously; at which point you may just want to save your gold for the next cycle.

Around 100 is usually what I shoot for when I don’t buy the prepurchase packs (which I do once per year).

That usually gives me enough dust to craft a legendary or two I wanted.

(What do you mean you only bought two!?)
