I think an easy fix to keep Shaman from having no counter, is by simply making A small change to the flash of lightning card. Have the card say; “Draw a card. Next turn, your nature spells cost one less, but not less than one.” Let’s be honest, there is rarely any good reason why a card should cost zero mana.
That would pretty much destroy it, yeah
But I mean, it’s about time it gets deleted from the game. How many more patches will we need to finally stop getting OTK-ed turn 5 by the most uninteractive and solitaire deck in the game??
Just how much more can we endure of this “queue up, play your minions on curve and pray to God you don’t just lose without counterplay”?
How many college degrees does one need to see that:
a) the class can literally play 20 cards in one turn, possibly more with good draw,
b) the class has board removal which also does face dmg (LOL!!! let’s just make sanitize also hit enemy face, why not?? surely it’s a good idea if shaman can do that)
c) the class has access to pop up-block, a card which can both hit face, clear board AND put up 2 taunts on the board, so just in case you did have a good opening hand and played a couple of minions, ah well, sucks, by the time they can start hitting face you just clear them with an AoE spell from b)
d) It’s so broken that every monkey on the ladder has their own version of the deck and they’re all 53+% winning
Ah well…you know what?
They might as well just buff the damned class so everybody can start playing it, since they obviously want that toxic deck to exist. It’s unfair that only 20% of the ladder plays it then.
And watching shaman mirrors on MT is just sad. People give their best, they see flash, they flash and from then on, it’s all in the hands of RNG.
Pure skill. Bravo. If I won an MT game like that, I would feel like I cheated my way through. Literally 0 skills involved.
Thank you, btw, for opening this thread. I can never resist a chance to vent about this overbroken, toxic disaster of a deck.
You are absolutely right. I got hit with FIVE 0 cost lightning bolts, 1 0 cost crash of thunder, with novice zapper on the field, and then he attacked with spirit claws. Oh and he got all those spells in one turn. Feels bad.
Get used to it. The nerf isn’t even announced xD
This deck plays almost exactly the same as the rogue deck, where is the crusade against that one?
What? Which one of rogue decks? they all put minions on the board and give you a chance to fight back
Your “fix” eradicates the deck entirely.
If one change is enough to completely crumble a deck it just shows it’s very gimmicky and relies on a busted mechanic to win.
They really got to stop doing this. It’s completely busted about half the time they’ve printed aoe that also hits face (sludgelock, fel dh, and now this).
The zilliax one that just keeps it stealthed and doubling health. True, it’s more preventable than the shaman otk, but just barely.
That deck is a meme deck and its’ winrate reflects it.
It sucks if people play one of like two decks that can’t consistently deal with it, but it’s objectively not broken, unlike Shaman
You don’t need to look further than the fact that absolutely noone brought that rogue deck to the Masters tournament (ongoing right now), but almost everyone brought the OTK Shaman
If it is the deck I faced today, I say flush it.
I know exactly what would happen to it if it were my class.
If it was OTK shaman, you would be dead turn 5, not turn 15 xD
Delete Flash, buff the rest of the class. Seems like a good deal
When are players just going to admit that Team5’s designers are blatantly biased in their decisions?
I can name plenty of decks that weren’t half this strong that got nerfed for feelings
I used to be a big mage player a few years back, but it felt like they were constantly nerfing it even when it wasn’t dominating the meta (not to mention the lackluster cards they keep releasing for it) Like I can only imagine if mage could use several 0 cost spell cards that cleared the board and did face dmg in this meta. They would have nerfed it into the ground week one.
They have already shown their unwillingness the change Flash so don’t even suggest it. It’s in the Brann Category of cards that are the offender and the problem but won’t be changed no matter what.
did they say it wouldn’t be changed?
No but if you look at the history of cards that are problematic in a rotation the answer is right there. Brann was the problem last year and they nerfed everything except that card. Stands to reason they won’t touch flash. I mean they have had a half dozen or more chances to nerf it and continue to nerf around it. They consider it the important card that makes the deck work and they don’t want to make the deck unplayable. Which means by extension they like the play pattern of OTK Nature Shaman.
It’s the cornerstone of the entire deck.
Nerfing it to a significant extent effectively results in the removal of the entire deck from standard play for the remainder of its time in rotation.
No, it simply indicates that they are not intending to entirely eliminate the deck and are instead attempting to find a middle ground. You know, a good thing.
That deck doesn’t have a middle ground.
