Occasionally, I make lists of my picks for the best movies for a particular movie genre, like Horror, Vampire films, or Zombie films. I started a tentative list for Christmas films a few days ago, and I briefly considered putting
The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974) on it.

Here is what I had so far:

A Christmas Story
Home Alone

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
How The Grinch Stole Christmas
Santa Claus Is Comin To Town
Frosty the Snowman

Die Hard

Miracle on 34th Street
Little Women
The Santa Clause
Bad Santa
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Elf
It’s A Wonderful Life
Gremlins

More mid 90’s black metal for me. This is a good album to start up again after christmas and a bit more of a symphonic entry into the music genre.

A short while back, I played Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen for a Christian friend, and her immediate reaction was “stop, he sounds evil.”

Last week, she encountered Hallelujah
again in a movie that we were watching, which was covered by female artist, and this same friend took an immediate liking to the song. This sparked a 15 minute conversation about Leonard Cohen and how he often includes biblical references into the songs he writes, and how he has performed Hallelujah many different ways by including different verses during different performances.

I have a playlist, which includes the following Leonard Cohen songs:

Avalanche

Hallelujah

Dance Me to the End of Love

A Thousand Kisses Deep

In My Secret Life

Boogie Street

Suzanne

This playlist also includes the following Chris Rea song, which has a strong Leonard Cohen vibe to it:

Apparently apple users have no issue though I cannot confirm that myself. I use PC. For me sometimes they link, sometimes they don’t. It is hit or miss. If it won’t link I can try again a few minutes later and eventually it works. No idea what happened with that.

Here is my contribution as my first of tonight:
