Moby is a great artist.
I seen him twice, once with his band and they opened for Jane’s Addiction.
And another time he preformed a DJ set at a techno club in Detroit.
Both were great shows, albeit I prefer his DJ sets.
I accidentally clicked on this post while alternating between reading Hearthstone forums and creating some new playlists on YouTube Music. I did a double take when I realized that I was seeing a music video link in the forums.
While I was never a fan of Cheap Trick, I do listen to a lot of playlists from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.
Rock music from the 70’s that I like includes such stuff as:
CCR (a lot by this band)
The Rolling Stones (Beast of Burden, Angie)
The Who
Long Cool Woman (The Hollies)
Black Betty (Ram Jam)
Pink Floyd
ELO
Steve Miller Band
Kansas
Heart (Magic Man, Crazy on You)
Dire Straights (Sultans of Swing, So Far Away)
America
Pretenders (Brass Pocket)
Joan Jett
Under Pressure (David Bowie)
And much more….
I really enjoy exploring a lot different genres of music and grouping the music into playlists by either genre, time period, or similar artists.
In the 80’s, I listened to a lot of Alternative Rock, and while I was mostly oblivious to what Goth’s were listening to back then, I recently, surprisingly, discovered that there was a large overlap between what I and Goths were listening to, and so I had a great time creating a Goth playlist that already has over 50 songs.
My music tastes are quite diverse. I can be listening to an Alt Z playlist one moment, and then switch to a playlist that has artists like Colter Wall, Cody Jinks, Warren Zeiders, and November South on it.
A lot of music that I like has a hypnotic or melodic beat to it, like Faded (by ZHU), Take It (the Sony Federa Remix, by Dom Dolla), Ride It (by Regard), Can’t Get You Out of My Head (by Kylie Monogue), or We Are the People (by Empire of the Sun).
I love psychedelic music and neo psychedelic music. I like Jazz, Blues, Country, Folk, Funk, Shanties, Pop, Synth Pop, Swing, New Wave, Glam Rock, Trip Hop, etc…
I was going to link the The Last in Line by Dio, but I as reviewed the above posts, I saw someone already had, so how about a few alternative songs from that Goth playlist that I mentioned:
I love Once! What great low budget movie and soundtrack.
I saw a clip about how this movie’s plot could be written on the back of a postage stamp as something like: “boy meets girl and buys her a piano.”
I always wanted to like The Velvet Underground, because I like the band’s name, but I find that their work just falls bit short for me.
The lead singer, Lou Reed, has a solo album with a psychedelic/glam rock song that stands out, which also contains references to the New York drug culture of the sixties and seventies: It’s called Walk on the Wild Side, and David Bowie helped to produce it.
Velvet Underground did influence a band that I like, and one of their songs (The Black Angel’s Death Song) inspired the band’s name: The Black Angels.
Truckstop linked two Rolling Stones songs with a drug theme that is in keeping with that Velvet Underground song, but I will link a couple of drug related songs that are more my preference:
I am playing some Stones tonight and jamming music. Not playing my usual’s, just listening to all the noobie postings.
Welcome to the OT
Life here is cheap, friend.
I was Just listening to some Trip Hop and some Downtempo. I wish I knew some more good Downtempo music that included vocals, because I tend to be bored by pure instrumentals.
Trip Hop:
Downtempo with vocals:
Something very different. Very, very different.
Consider this to be…
Haunting.
This dude has a very haunting voice. Enjoy. Or don’t. Whatever.
Joe Dallesandro on the Sticky Fingers cover. What a dude.
Here’s one from my time as a kid.
