when you pick your mercenaries, it lets you choose which spot to put them during the fight, does it matter which order you put them in? I know that they attack based on the speed of the attack but im not sure if it effects anything except where you want them to be during the fight.
Some mercenaries interact with position, like Thrall, who deals damage and then sends the left-most merc to attack. Some bosses also use positioning, like Icehowl who attacks either what is in front of him, the left-most, or the right-most target.
Yes, certain abilities will depend on the merc’s location. When Cornelius Roame uses his Taunt ability, for example, he heals friendly characters adjacent to him, so you always want to put him in the middle so he’ll heal two mercs. And since mercs who create new characters place the new character to their right, you would probably want to place such a merc (like Rexxar) to Cornelius’s right, so that their new summon won’t push them out of Cornelius’s healing (since it’ll generally be more important to heal the merc rather than the summon, which is usually pretty disposable).
