I’ve been playing against many opponents who use nothing but basic cards. I’ve also noticed that whenever I have a stealth-taunt minion on the field, they spend their whole turn trying to attack it.
Could they be computer-controlled players?
Not all of them, but most.
Don’t listen to forum spammers who just post to upper their post count.
It’s perfectly normal to see “simple decks”,
because some COMPLETE QUESTS and not all of them care about even ranking; e.g. someone may do them in Wild to get XP (it’s more XP than Casual) and they care only about Standard; unless you mean in Casual where I suspect almost everyone do quests there.

You can tell a bot by the basic deck but also the cadence in which they play. The moves tend to be precisely spaced out.
They also tend to only go face unless a taunt minion is in the way.
Lastly in my experience the names tend to be a gibberish mix of letters and numbers.
