Standard and other ranked mode will always have a Net Deck problem, meaning everyone will be playing the same decks and grind up with paper rock scissor.
BG is always random, different, free of will. Good players can win and win and win , and other cannot really copy his “deck”. The more shining rules added into BG, the more skill cap will be. So the gap will grow bigger and bigger, making the best players best.
I can see a tournament of BG being much more fun to watch and will attract more streaming and profits.
It’s a completely different game and the Battlegrounds audience is probably less than 5% of all overall players so your “keeping the game alive” point is BS unless you have access to some data that you’re not sharing.
Standard is also “fresh” as the meta refreshes often, the game mode has amazing support and after 10 years of playing the game Im not bored. There’s also Wild and Twist.
If you love HS BG so much I strongly suggest you check out its competitions as there are far superior products out there in my opinion.
You mentioned on another thread that BG needs “knowledge” to win, but that also applies to standard, as does the level of randomness. “Net Decking” also occurs in BGs as you know so I don’t know what your point is here?
Sounds like someone who gets wrecked in standard and uses BGs as a coping mechanism
Based on the fact that HS main game mode is standard and the majority of people that never even look at the meta or YT or Twitch will reside there VS even if you look at a twitch stream, the vast majority of content there is standard outside of a couple of big streamers like Kripp (who never really played standard anyway). Also, there are loads of competitive products that are far better than HS BGs, there’s not a single more popular online card game. It’s not hard really to work it out.
It is not. It is the same netdecked comps that win most lobbies.
It’s actually the exact opposite. The more random combinations, the more you lose on hero selection screen.
You get an anomaly that doesn’t favor either of your heros, but the the tribes that are best for your heroes are also out? You lost no matter what you think of your skills.
BGs have been ruined just like standard and it’s getting worse.
BGs is the most popular streaming version of HS and it wasn’t close.
Are you sure about it being the “most streamed” because I just checked Twitch and only Kripp was playing BGs. My point wasn’t that anyway. It was about an overwhelming number of the playerbase playing standard as their main and not BGs. And that wasn’t even the main point I was making, just the one people focussed on.
According to blizzards own internal data that they share in their quarterly reports. Battlegrounds is by far the most popular and played format of all the HS formats. It only dips to second place the first week of a new expansion then it jumps back to the top.
Their biggest problem was always finding a way to monetize it correctly and take advantage of those numbers.
I want to be on board with whatever you’re saying, because I’m a basher and need basher backers, but I just can’t get down and be on a crew that says “paper rock scissor”.
Bad player thinking.
Bad players think netdecking is a problem.
Bad players also tend to think the first week post expansion is the only good moment, because is the only point at which their unoptimized decks find even more unoptimized decks.
Having know plays heightens skill level, not the opposite
i think the chinesse were because unless im remembering this wrong they stopped releasing content after they were forced to stop selling in china and thats too much of a coincidence
Even battlegrounds need rework its beyond trash now … what started as amazing mode has turned into full clown fiesta show … i used to love it, i barely even log in to do quest anymore
The minute they realized they had implemented the format in such a way that you could FTP farm it they were done. They were basically forced to remove those methods from the game and force players to spend cash to advance. They should have left it in game but added more to the mode later that encouraged spending money now and then instead of it becoming a money sink mobile game.
