These are just the absolute worst brawls of the year because it’s just 100% stupid RNG and so ridiculously slow to play. It’s just wet noodle fights and boring stupid or complete lopsided rng blowout.
Nothing about the brawl is fun and it needs to just not be in the rotation.
No one:
Blizzard: what if we make every player discover twice for every card in their deck? Won’t that be super fun?
I get this, I do. As a f2p the packs make a difference over time and I don’t mind most of them. Most of them are one and done, but there are several I really like.
Oddly, I like the cooperative brawls the most.
I can’t think of that many, but I can see where others might.
Almost all of the brawls that are pure RNG. There’s boat loads of them.
The Yogg one where your deck is random minions. Play a minion and it casts a random spell.
Shifter Zerus where your deck is nothing but Shifter Zerus and Shifting Scrolls.
The Blood one where your spells costs health so basically if you play DH or Druid you win on turn 1.
The Party Portals one where you just get spells that summon random minions.
That’s just off the top of my head because these were recent but you get the idea.
That could have been a valid reason for the common player but in your particular case tavern brawls are just a mirror that reflects your inability to perform simple tasks.
Anything at a pre school level could be a stressful experience for you.
I went with DH, going mostly for spells, since DH has no minion type spells which works here, and DH spell pool has a mix of removal, lifesteal, and burn.
One game I discovered on turn 1 that 7 drop that summons random 3 drop beast when you cast a spell, kept it until turn 9 to unload.
Another game I choose summoning stone to again flood the board.
I got lucky this time around. I discovered a Darkmoon Magician and popped off from that. My opponent couldn’t handle it and conceded; the only way to quickly win a game in this Brawl being tilting your opponent through sheer luck.
Even the Discover pools were abysmal. Discovering a minion meant all Neutrals, so discovering a spell heavily favored classes with impactful spells.
In my first game, I tried Hunter since its HP is generally good for Brawls, but the spells were terrible. In the second game, I picked Mage, and it went much better with which I ended up winning.
I imagine mage with god rolls will end up stronger, but I think DH is easier to pilot
-1 mana hero power vs 2, easier to use each turn
-DH has access to lifesteal, which is easier to use than say mage armor or freeze
-DH spells tend to cost less so easier to find playable cards, and you have more chance to have mana left over to deal damage
-but the big spells DH does have seem to be very good in this brawl… normally they don’t hit hard enough to remove buffed boards, but this brawl doesn’t have those… like I’ll take expendable performers or cycle of hatred which is likely to leave me with board, over flamestrike that may kill more things but builds no board of my own
Yea, the tavern brawls are lazy, unispired, and almost intentionally designed to frustrate players. To make matters worse, the lazy developers don’t even curate the discover options to fit the tavern brawl rules. For example, Hunter has several discover options that draw beasts from decks…even when the tavern brawl event has no minions.
As for the Raven Idol tavern Brawl, the easiest way to win is to pick Death Knight. This is because the spells and minions are tied to your hero class, and since DK is a new class with extreme powercreep, you stand a better chance at getting degenerate stuff. Aside from that, play Priest which has very good cards that copy minions. Avoid Hunter, which has the worst card options. Also, I strongly doubt that the discover options are truly random as I often run into opponents with extremely specific picks, which leads me to believe that some options/discoveries are presets instead of being truly random.
I knew a kid who used to eat paste and another one who liked to sniff white out all day. They were having fun, Boreas. I’m glad you are always having fun.
Maybe someday you can be an Olympian.
Me too, the fourth person I faced conceded before anyone could play a card.
I did the same four times before I logged out earlier. Spread the love and all that.
Strategy to winning this weeks Brawl within a game or two.
Step 1. Play DK
Step 2. Pick minion for turns 1-2
Step 3. Pick nothing but spell discovery for the rest of the game after turn 2.
Step 4. Collect free win.
Hint: DK has an absurdly small spell pool to choose from and the ones they have are all high powered. Eventually you WILL hit The Scourge and win the game.
Step 1) Hit Scourge. Play Scourge
Step 2) Opponent plays Corpse explosion
Step 3) Repeat Step 1
Step 4) Repeat Step 2
Step 5) Opponent does Step 1
Step 6) I play Corse Explosion. Just kidding I’m not that lucky
Step 7) Lose
Welcome to a day in the life of Schyla luck.
Finally broke down and just played DH. Turns out, DH pool is small and a lot of DH cards are “If your deck has no minions”. Glad that BS is over with.
