Older cards good for dusting?

So, the only meta defining deck I can fully make atm, in wild, is cube lock. I have lotsa cards from older expansions/adventures that haven’t aged well, and I am considering dusting them-- especially legendaries like Slogoth.

I am looking for suggestions for cards that will likely never be relevant again, and thus safe to dust.

The only cards that may no longer see support for are very specific cards with no links to other mechanisms.
Eg. My guess is C’thun. You won’t see explicit support for C’thun in new expansions, I’m guessing. But you never know. They may one day release cards that explicitly help C’thun again. Maybe.

And even then, new cards can still indirectly help old cards. Eg. Battlecry support works for C’thun too, although not directly.

Yeah, lots of stuff you can dust in wild. Not worth to hang onto stuff anymore, the format will never allow some stuff to be good like Sogoth lol.

If you wanted to list neutral cards or class cards I will personally point out what’s fine to dust if you like.

I would say dont dust any highlander stuff, emperor thaurissan, mage quest (the waygate one), aluneth, loatheb and bullies, gheist, albatross, baku and genn.

Those are on top of my head for now. Dont dust them.

The other are depends on your creativity I guess. Maybe you want to have at least one cool theme and its supports.

Maybe you like deathrattle theme and need fun stuff like rivendale, umbra, nzoth, khartut, and other DR stuff in each class.

Maybe you like totem tribe. So you need totems support and/or stuff like baku or justicar.

Or the usual annoying stuff like ress spells, hyperspeed pirates, removal pile warlock, and other meta stuff.

Or weird stuff like oakheart and his dragons. Warrior toggwagle for the giggles. DK pally and the bouncers.

Solem did an instructive video on the subject.

Without having a specific list it is incredibly tough to just spit out a list of random cards that should be dusted or kept.

With that in mind what I would consider:

a. Was the card a staple in Standard? If it saw a lot of play in Standard it is relatively likely to have some 2nd chances in Wild. If yes, keep, if no move on to b.

b. Is the card powerful / has a unique (or fun) effect? Example Hobgoblin it was never meta, but it was a relatively powerful card.

c. Tribes and Synergies, Dragons, Pirates, Mechs ect anything with a tribal tag is probably worth keeping, likewise good keywords (Deathrattle, Battlecry, Taunt, combo / choose one) these are core concepts Blizzard goes back to time and time again.

I think that, at least for legendary and epic cards, Hearthpwn keeps a pretty good tier list on cards, so you can always check those to see which ones aren’t seeing any play and thus can be safely dusted. I’d use some caution though; just because a card isn’t good or isn’t seeing play now doesn’t mean a card won’t be released in the future that will make it playable or even good.

I dont really dust any cards I dont have no matter their playability just because it offers you more variety and playstyles if you ever want to experiment. Of course if its millhouse manastorm, yea dust away.
