Oh No... We Found An Anomaly Too OP

So lemme understand the logistics of this logically thought out seek and destroy mission that has taken place in the Battlegrounds Faire Reward Anomaly.

The entirety of the mode itself, the buffs, the absurdity of its randomness, are not too OP, but Treasure-Seeker Elise explicitly and specifically was so explicit and overwhelming to the integrity of this gank fest that she had to be banished.

Did I get this pretty close or am I missing something?

Yes.

Golden Elise + Darkmoon Prize Anomaly-> Reduce Minion buying cost by 1(3 times), first 5 rerolls cost 0 = profit : r/BobsTavern (reddit.com)

I think you got the logistics accurate,at least from a logical point of vieuw.

But yes. While there is many big swings and powerfull cards in BG right now, they are at least somewhat balanced. To some extend that is.

But this elise interaction was just way and way over the top,it sort of ruined the fun of the otherwise somewhat balanced anomaly. Its the one card and mechanic that broke the game mode. Where all the other cards just stayed within the wide bounderies of what was acceptable from a logistics point of vieuw. Logically speaking that is.

I didn’t actually realize the 5 freefresh thing still existed and was that impactful with her. I just had the free refreshes for health demon and was looking everywhere for her before I realized she got removed. Makes sense if she was spitting out 10’s of thousands with DS and WF lol.

can’t wait for them to learn that you can actually stay tavern 1, stack prizes and open them at given points of the game to discover tavern 6 minions turn 8 and spam Argent Braggart for a board full of divine shield windfury minions with thousands of stats

It’s good with mill house and elements. Outside of that, I don’t think she that useful . Maybe with noz?

They changed the price that reduces the cost of buying minions. It will no longer go below 2 mana. So you no longer can get infinite tripples, and with that infinite price rewards. You can no longer stack as many braggarts as your apm and the games animations would allow for.

Despite this, staying at tier 1 and “simply” discovering a few tier 6 minions is still a quiet valid strategy somehow. At least with some heroes. But the massive payoff that you would get from tier 4 prices is gone,as the infinite value is no longer there.

Strat is definitely still playable just more niche
I got top 1 in a dragon - naga - murloc lobby playing shudderwock
Tripled a naga for +2 gold each turn
tripled the 1/1 dragon for free 0/3 triples
Big murloc for tempo and Argent Braggart switch

I saw a streamer top 1 in a murloc + elemental lobby playing gallywix

I’m low elo so mine may not be relevant but the streamer is in top elo. Not saying it’s still op but definitely doable.

(and yes both games are post-nerf)

Yeah no I tried this today. With Sellemental on the board I got upwards of 25 triples without leaving T1. Lucky me, Murlocs were on board too and Bob hooked me up with a Murkeye, my 2 golden whatchamacallit guys were just below 10k. Not a single person even tried for poison or Leroy lol.

I forgot to state what should’ve been obvious, this is busted and needs to be fixed somehow.

Exactly this. I wasn’t even on someone anywhere near Gallywix, Xyrella, who I absolutely never pick and ended up swapping her hero power for something as equally lacking.

They did a first fix attempt by nerfing the prize that reduced minions’ price by 1 (up to free) so now they can only cost 2

Which is fine, but the prize itself isn’t the broken and easily fixable part.

When you normally triple a minion, you get the reward for the tier above you when that triple hits the board. The prizes allow you to bank them, so regardless of what turn counter the prize upgrade was on when you put the minion on the board, it gives you the prizes for the rank you use the discovery. So you can triple something on turn 2, play the minion without losing your tempo, save the “get a prize” discovery until turn 9, then get Iceblock. Whatever 25+ prizes you saved after that can be used when you hit turn 12 and you just go bananas. I know you can’t have 25 things in your hand, but you get what I mean.

This i didnt knew and i am not sure this still works.
I am not even sure this ever was the case but if you say so i will believe you.

But even without beeing able to play the tripples, bank the prices , and have them upgrade automatically as the game progresses the tier1 strat is still viable with some heroes. I got a high finish while holding a few triples because i didnt want to play them to early for a weak privce lol.
Its not the end of the world btw. I think the mechanic is fine as is and everyone can try the strat if they think its good.

But yes,you should get the tier of the price locked when you play the triple and the price should not upgrade further while keeping it in hand. As said:i thought this was the case already but maybe not.
This would make the strategy a bit more interesting and a bit less of an auto pick.

I can confirm that banked rewards auto-uppgrade when prizes uppgrade.

The sad thing about this is that you also punish every other normal strat of the game.
It is an interesting twist to be able to bank triple rewards. Also banking a reward is a net loss during your turn as you pay 3 gold to fuse 2 minions you probably had on board to get the same effect or worse. Definitely a risk/reward that I think is fine for that mode (out of Tier 1 strat)

Although the strat has its flaws (if half the lobby plays tempo they will destroy you and you’ll die soon before turn 12 even with ice block) and its counters (venomous minions with rebord/divine shield, leeroy, bassgil throwing an army of previous examples, or the sneaky Rylak+golden Argent to get a minion bigger than theirs).

In the end if they really want to nerf it properly I think they should aim at the Argent. Either make it limited in the pool, or add the rule that this minion can’t get discovered if you’re tavern 1 and maybe even 2. Not the cleanest, but the one affecting the less the rest of the game.

Nope, it’s the tier you cash it out that determines the prize.

I’ve played the t1 dragons strat to great effect.
