just started playing this game and i was super excited to play something different from what i usually play, shooters, rts, rpg etc etc
but ive come to find this game is 70% luck and chance and only 30% skill.
pvp? create a great combo and your opponent uses a single card to completely undo what youve built up. or youll discard 3 6+ cards only to get back 3 7+ cards like wtf is that?
rastakhans rumble? get a terrible shrine that is obviously under powered to the npc, play again with his shrine and the npc gets perfect combos each time.
witchwood? lol same thing as rumble, i have yet to beat rumble or witchwood, ive gotten to the last boss many times only to be stomped into an impossible to beat combo
the only mode i felt was kinda fair was the dalarans heist
i beat chapter 1 of dalaran on my first try, chapter 2 like my 7 or 8th, and chapter 3 like on my 6th try.
and the arena is an absolute joke, a huge gold/money sink (thankfully i havent payed anything for this game) ive gotten completely garbage cards, when, i am not kidding, my opponent once got a deathwing, and an illidan and drew them back to back.
this game is so amazing but the RNG is insane and ruins the fun

The problem is you don’t understand how it works after just starting. New players should just focus on creating 1 std deck that’s good enough to start winning.
Also, this is rank, so you will be matched against other bad players like yourself. You don’t even need to fight me since some of my decks would beat you 99% of the time.

Hearthstone is supposed to be zany RNG and flashy animations. While they (Blizzard) has been a bit intense in this aspect as of late, if you hate RNG as a concept then it isn’t the best CCG for you to start with. For you, Magic: the Gathering Arena would probably be a better option.
Pretty much what others mentioned - if you hate heavy rng games, do not play HS.
MTG:A is great game though keep in mind its way more complex than HS so its harder for new players to learn it properly.

LOL just starts playing and think the game is broken in under 2 hours. Dang i bet you are fun playing games with.
Hey, you stole my nickname.
@Player: I share some of your sentiment and frustration with the game as I have been there before. There is more nuances to this game than it appears at first glance.
Send me a friend request and I can guide you through the game if you would like.

I appreciate your efforts.
But I’m filthy EU scum, sorry.
Hey man! EU is no scum in my book!
If you ever make an account from across the pond, the offer is still valid.
well he/she has figured out that the game is 70% RNG, so sounds like they have an accurate understanding of HS

Not really. MtG hides it randomness in its mana system. It has more turn options than a Hearthstone match, but it isn’t less ‘random’ per se.
No - if the OP is looking for a high-skill game to play that is completely absent of any randomness of any kind then no CCG - paper or digital - is going to scratch his itch.
CCGs are games that combine strategic deck design, tactical decision-making, resource-management, and randomness into a pleasant mixture of both skill and chance. There is no such thing as a CCG that is purely skill based. There is no such thing as a CCG that is purely random. CCGs have both elements. And if the OP doesn’t like RNG peanut butter in his Skill chocolate then he’d better find an entirely different genre of game to play rather than whine about randomness in a CCG.
CCGs have randomness. It’s axiomatic. Whining about RNG in a CCG is like whining about getting wet when you swim.
