No “oomph” to try and climb ladder

As the title says, I’m finding myself lacking the “oomph” to try and climb the ladder further than diamond (9 wild).

Getting tired of playing against the same net decks over and over and over and over again.

I’m finding myself logging in just to do the daily quests, seeing if I’ve enough gold to buy a few packs and then logging off.

Came back about 2 months ago from a 4 year break and at first, it was fun and felt fresh again but now,……

meh.

I talked my friends into returning to play but they’re now gone after only about two or so weeks. Stating that “It’s the same garbage that it was back then. Just more useless cards that no one will ever play.”

I’m just wondering if anyone else has / had this issue of lack of enthusiasm to try and climb higher on the ladder, and besides quitting for another 4 years; what is a good solution for this lack of enthusiasm?

I get it sometimes and usually just quit for a bit before I inevitably return.

Depends what you enjoy about the game. I like control / combo / fun decks and although I like to win, it’s not really my reason for playing. The most fun I have is getting incredibly good with off meta decks with a high skill ceiling.

I always have legend in the back of my mind. For example, this season I actually did climb with a meta deck to legend (control warlock) but only because every deck was fresh to me because I had taken a year break.

There’s a load of fun to be had in other game modes too. Single player duels, battlegrounds, twist and wild can mix things up.

Meta is a bit boring in my opinion but I’d wait to see what the mini set brings with anomalies, should be an interesting experience

What do you choose to play in Wild? I am having a good time in Wild this season. But I also haven’t played the meta in a longtime either.

What used to really piss me off in wild has died down A LOT.

I think fun is playing something you enjoy. If you play a format for rank the fun dies. I love Warlock, Warlock is doing really well in standard an wild. I am prob playing the best Warlock version for standard, in wild I am not playing discard, but a Highlander list.

Maybe you should give a highlander deck a try? I personally found it quite fun because A.) Before I went to wild, I had to be very careful with my dust to craft cards. This let me really look over all that wild has to offer, an make judgement calls on cards for my deck.

An B.) Like Renolock isn’t a new deck archetype. I am not inventing the wheel over here lol. But I get to somewhat build around an craft my own list in the end. An that’s part of my fun. My current list I am having success with for instance is my 3rd iteration.

So I didn’t get it right the 1st time, the 2nd time was just bad lol. But now stuff is going pretty freaking great. So my advice for you is, try an just deck challenge yourself with a Highlander deck.

You know you’ll have Reno an Zephry’s… Do you want Kazakus? Do you want Alexstraza? Do you want to try an Use Bendictius? Or any other Start of the game power? Building a deck with a restriction let’s you have more fun. As long as you have some degree of powerful cards you’ll be okay.

i guess it’s all subjective but the game feels so much more dead to me now than it ever has. nothing is drawing me in. twist was the last mode that made me excited but it’s so horrendously balanced to the point of unplayability. i recommend you quit and never look back, and hopefully I can do the same.

Thanks to all who responded with your input and ideas. Played this morning for about 4 hours (I’m a night owl lol) and still no oomph.

Tried Twist and it’s pretty much like Wild just fewer cards but constant same net decks.

I tried to change up a deck or two and nothing.

I tried to play other modes.

In Arena, I won my first two matches followed immediately by 3 consecutive loses. I found myself not getting the coin flipped in my favor to get the “perfect” cards while my opponents seemed to get it for those 3 matches. So next….

Tried Duels and it went much like Arena. Won the first two matches then immediately lost the following three. Didn’t get the “perfect” selection of cards unlike my opponents and got eliminated for it.

Mercenaries - if I wanted to play against the computer, I would play solitaire.

I guess, in short; Hearthstone has lost the fun factor again so I’m gonna shelf it for a few months (hopefully not another 4 years) then come back and see what’s changed/ recapture the spark of fun it used to have.

Again, thanks for all the responses and feedback.

Climbing for the sake of climbing never did anything for me. I either found an enjoyable deck to play or I didn’t. The increase in rewards between ranks is so minimal that I never felt any pressure to play for rank. Some seasons I played hundreds of games, others less than a dozen.

The popular streamers tend to play some fun looking off meta decks, just don’t expect to replicate any success they might have.
