Next Expansion Name Leaked?

May we’ll see monk sooner than we thought?

i mean if monk is on the table it would make sense.

2years since the last new class release - i guess it´d fit.

It’s probably just a bundle for Lunar New Year, like the Three Kingdoms portraits that they offered last year.

There’s actually a set of six Pandaria-themed portraits that they just added, including the Druid Xuen portrait and the Rexxar portrait that comes with it, which are already on sale.

Also, pre-order portraits explicitly say that they’re from pre-purchasing in their descriptions. This portrait doesn’t.

Could be! Could also just be the name of the next bundle, but hopefully it is the next expansion and there’s a new monk class

it´s definitely the name of the bundle, but a pandaria themed expansion seems likely then.

Oh no, please no, no. Not another class, please!

It’s already underwhelming to open a legendary after 30 packs just to see it’s from one of our least favourite class, let’s not pollute the legendary pool more!
With 20 class legendary + 5 neutrals is already very hard for me to find legendary cards that I want, so if they really want to add a new class, they had better make it easier to find legendary (either by adding 1 more in the rewards path and adding some gold, or by reducing the pity timer drastically).

Another issue that I see: it’s clear that they don’t like to test new stuff when we can do the job for free; if “DH part 2” will happen, I hope wild would be playable otherwise who knows how long we will have to wait for a balanced game.

wow.

liked the name, but this portrait is really awesome!

thats really relevant indeed. If there’s a new hero coming, it’s certainly the time for them to think in a new system of card buying or something.

Bundles are usually the 15-20 dollar skin packs i thought?

It said Evil from Pandaria bundle not pre-purchase

Combine this with the fact there is a voice line SPECIFICALLY if your hero is a MONK and SPECIFICALLY if you face another player whose hero is a MONK…

Pandaria could very well be the next expansions, but Evils of Pandaria as a bundle coming out first or after makes a lot of sense.

I think a combination of these 2 things, IN CONJUNCTION with Dean Ayala stating they talked about classes before and they felt that “11 or 12” was the “right amount” of classes to have in Hearthstone…

…it makes a very, very strong case for Monks coming. I think that believing otherwise is just living in denial.

How do you feel personally about that? You sound disencouraged? For me, personally, I love the idea of a monk class.

after the last 2 expansion i think adding a new class might actually be a chance to somewhat level the playing field.

and after the experiences with DH they might actually end up undertuning poor monk at the start.

Celestalon was the one who said “10 or 11 classes”, and he’s since clarified that it was a mistake and not intended as a hint of what’s coming:

So, it seems he misspoke. Nevertheless, if they’re going the direction of Pandaria, I would think the probability of monk being a class is high.

i mean if he did leak by accident he would definitely revert on it aswell, so there´s really not much knowledge to be gained.

But i think it´s save to assume they at one point want to have all wow classes in Hearthstone and a pandaria theme without monk would be strange.

As bad as the DH rollout was, a new class can’t possibly be as broken as that fiasco. And balances came fairly quick.

I’m in favor of adding another class. The more the merrier to be honest. The more diversity we have, the less complaints X class will get.

My ONLY concern is that it ends up being a class that is just another vomit aggro class. We don’t need any more of that. It would be nice if there was another Priest/Warrior control class that focuses on minions. If it just ends up being another Face Hunter style, I’ll be disappointed.

I’d like to see the Monk class focused on battlecries and bouncing minions, similar to what Youthful Brewmasters do now.

Depends on the playstyle they want to explore with it. Could be underpowered or overpowered. As the difference with DH and other existing classes is DH was designed with a few goals in mind and a more concrete identity for its playstyle.

Awww. I wanted Deathknight or maybe a Tinkerer (Engineer profession / WoD idea, sneed like class with mecha blades and rocket boots, mech synergies, magnetic hearthstone themes, maybe gadget cards that could trigger mecha synergies as a cross spell/weapon/minion tag like

World Shrinker 5000: 8 Mana: Turn all minions into 1/1s. Gain a giant boot with 1/5 Durability with Supercleave: Whenever you attack a minion, cleave all enemy minions on the board.

Scrap collector O Remote: 2 mana: Gain 1 mana for every mech or gadget that was destroyed this game while this was in your hand. You can play them again (for this turn only)

Bling Tron Neo 9000: 9 mana 5/4: Equip 4 random weapons onto each player and give them mega windfury, whenever they attack, They equip one of their new weapons, until all 4 have broken!

(Potentially face dmg Busted i know but it’d be hillarious haha)

Still, monk seems like it could be a neat class.

But i wonder what they could have for it. It was like a mix of a healer, stall tank with staggering in wow, and a fast dungeon dps in wow i remember.

It seems like it’d share a lot with pally in hearthstone (healing, tanking, protection), while it does have some unique mechanics like Touch of deaths (instakills under X hp, like 100k or 33% life total), and chi/combo points like rogue, i’m not sure where it’d be.

Maybe they could do something with the bounce mechanic, or do something like a heal rogue with board vanishes, damage staggering (delays?). Or it could go into maybe building chi points with moves and have like both +attack and defence cards like druid, while still having weapons like warrior, and build up combos and use chi points as a resource for cards to perhaps empower their effects?

Etc: Palm strike: 1 mana: Gain 2 attack and strike a minion immediately. Gain 1 chi.

Tiger Kick: 2 mana: Deal 3 damage to a target. +1 for every Chi you have.

Revitalizing Brew: 3 mana: Heal yourself 3 for every chi you have. Then gain 3 chi.

Touch of Death: 1 mana: You can instantly kill any target under 2 health for free, 4 health for 1 chi, and any target under 7 health for 2.

Still, looks neat. I kinda worry with a lot of classes we might dilute the ability to have lots of decks in each class, but that could be very neat.

Dude with purple hair obviously doesn’t take himself seriously, so why should we?

Bundles are skins, portraits and card backs. While its interesting, it points to the next expansion as much as the mech skin bundles point to a mech expansion. They’re simply not usually related these days.

Healthy skepticism. Always question everything.
