Newsflash for the devs

In order to promote minion interaction and board based strategies, STOP
PUNISHING PEOPLE FOR PLAYING MINIONS.

When everytime i play any minions a druid can trade scales of onyxia into it and feed their denathrius, that doesnt incentivise me to play for the board. That makes me want to just go face and kill them.

When i am too scared to play a minion because the mage hero power will just ping it off and get +2 damage, when my board gets frozen turn after turn where i cant do anything. That doesnt make me want to play minions. That makes me want to go face and kill them

When i cant risk buffing any minion because the opponent just slams a starfish or insatiable devourer and completely neutralises any strategy i had. That doesnt make me want to play minions. That makes me want to go face and kill them

When i cant play wide boards because of aoe freeze and damage effects, when i cant play big minions because of silence and cards like insatiable devourer. That doesnt make me want to play minions, that makes me want to go face and kill them

Like…. Do the devs not understand that in order for board based strategies to work and be good they can’t just be removed or answered with single cards? There is way too much punishment for playing for board nowdays.

All the best decks in the game

  • freeze hero power mage
  • denathrius druid
  • implock
  • quest hunter

Funny how they all either basically ignore the opponents board entirely (quest hunter and implock) or are actively buffed from opponents playing minions because they gain power from it (hp mage and Denathrius druid).

And the devs wonder why board based strategies dont work. Maybe its because what’s the point in playing minions when the best decks ignore them or become stronger when you play minions into them.

Implock is a board based deck. Its just better than your board based deck.

There probably would be a few more board based decks in the game if other classes could have “2 mana, draw 7” and “get a 7/7 that can go face on the board by turn 3” yeah.
Not to mention they run some of the strongest Infuse cards so clearing boards can just be fueling them even harder lol.

The entire game is so outrageously overtuned I’m amazed anyone plays.
This is not an esport anymore, just a money pit.

Interesting discussion.

But it seems to me that you cherry picked your decks.

Aggro Druid is also another top deck that’s board based.

What’s more accurate is to say that winning through the board must come extremely fast, or with stealth, or you start running into extremely efficient freeze and Rush removal.

Mallenroh well at least mage is tier 1 legit tier 1 or 2.

It’s more like Mage is Tier S right now. The only question is if it’s better then Druid (also Tier S)

If Mage is willing to tech in a Fire Sale then that deck gets smoked (pun not intended)

but…we have several high tier board based decks…
oh that guy us back i hope blizzard doesnt nerf mage so he wont have material for his " blizzard hates mages "threads

I cannot play Standard anymore. Mage may be really good, but it does not play like mage to my mind. More like some kind of pally.
I believe that Quests and Colossals have destroyed this product along with zero cost everything.

Did you watch yugioh evolve ? The state of the game is crazy. But you have to out do your previous wow factor. I do love how rogue finally has a hand control deck. I loved hand control in magic the gathering. The new format looks promising there too for it.

I really don’t play much anymore. I do spend a fair amount of time on Twitter telling the so called devs precisely what i think of them and this product.

The problem is also that these days, you get so much value for so little mana. For just a mere 3 mana, the starfish will silence your entire board and undo all the previous turns you took to establish your board or buff your minions. Starfish needs to be at least 4-5 mana, with corresponding changes to its’ stats

The mage can freeze your entire half of the board using 2 mana at most.

Things that would take up all your mana in the past, can now be done with just 3 mana.

This isn’t power creep anymore. This is a full-blown power inflation

really wish you worked at blizzard as one of the designers, everything you just said is why I am having no fun in constructed hearthstone, like literally did not miss a single one!

I have tried building for several different kinds of decks and it always happens! skeleton mage punishes me for going wide or freezes my big stuff every turn & has 4 different game ending cards, druid punishes me for going big or doing anything at all on board, imp warlock kills me before I can play a boardclears or drop a significant taunt.

I want to play a game where minions matter and I dont’ think skeleton mage or imp lock counts.

It’s never gonna get any better unless the current design team quits or gets let go.
The only thing they know how to do is make the game ever more ridiculous.
The product needs a big stat squish the same way they have done in Wow multiple times.
Key words and synergies need to be reigned in, and zero cost effects need to be mostly done away with.

The great mallenroh has blessed us with his presence!!! MALLENROH, it has gotten to the point to where i am barely playimg standard right now. More battlegrounds for me than standard.

Mage teching that is unlikely based on the interaction with Varden hero.

In any case a deck isn’t great on the basis of a single card that may be included.

Otherwise Paladin Hero would have been mediocre because of the viper.

yeah i come on and do quests in wild but that’s about it.
