New Zephrys is complete garbage

Just letting you know. If you are thinking of trying him, steer. ‘Potentially perfect’ = completely useless 9/10. And to top it off he costs more mana to play than the original Zephrys! Dusted.

What were you expecting from the card that is not how it works ?
From when I used it it was doing what I expected, giving me situational cards on demand that I then have to make the best of
It has not been advertised as “it will give you THE cards you need to win the game”

50% of the time it sucks

they may as well just turn him into a ogre

zephrys the ogre

I think hes useful… he gives 2 useful cards from whatever category you select… sure it isnt a win now card but thank heavens for that.

It’s a good card under very specific conditions. E.g. it’s probably good for all very slow decks without much synergy in them; e.g. highlander decks or when you go for achievements; or Arena decks that find synergy cards by default an …antisynergy.

For example you have your slow deck without much AOE spells and the opponent is a spam-some-dudes deck; you play that and select the board/AOE option; BOOM you get an 8 cost that clears ALL things (even locations).

He can’t even afford an uncracked tea cup in his portrait. What made you think Zephyrus got a budget increase when he decided to drop his no duplicate rule?
Edit: Eureka I got it! That purple pimp coat he’s wearing is why he costs extra! He couldn’t afford a good cup cuz he spent his extra mana on the coat.

Zeph is the best card in this expansion, followed closely by the clumsy steward

I literally added the first to all my decks and with the second i humiliated some Dorian druids…

Both are making me win matches that last week were certain defeats.

Or you tech him as from hand damage for decks with none.

It is that simple and is powerful using this way because 2 Burst cards are far more Burst than 1.

In a slower value deck I could see it being a valid option tbf. I had much higher expectations considering that there has been a significant power ‘creep’ since the last Zephrys. Even if the cost was reduced to 2 mana like the previous Zephrys it would still be an inferior card.

I tried it again this morning and got cards like shield bash and Grommash whilst playing as Shaman, so of course they were effectively dead in hand. Discover cards are far superior to it. So yeah, I personally wouldn’t recommend it at all.

How? Have you re-crafted it? Isn´t it little bit wasteful?

That card was a HIGHLANDER restricted card. Those cards are by default overpowered to supposedly compensate for the handicap of not having many synergies in the deck because it has no duplication.

PS I find them anti-player for the most part; their main reason of existence to me appears to sell packs; most of their good cards are legendaries and they’re not only highlander restricted ones.

I think they should make it a 2 mana cost card. 3 mana its pretty bad since it doesn’t give a perfect card, it gives you 2 high mana cost situational cards that sometimes can be helpful

Obligatory ‘I called it’ comment.

Necromancy time! Guys I figured out the real reason he costs 3. One of his extravagant tour pulls is shadowstep, so by making him cost 3 it makes sure he’d always cost 1 in the unlikely scenario he ends up pulling shadowstep any amount of times back to back

I saw that card a lot when doing achievements with a highlander hunter in wild. That card is HUGE on slow decks that take their time.

It’s simple why it’s good; at first you WAIT to be sure what kind of deck the opponent is; then you pick the right counters and wait.

‘potentially perfect’ = completely random.

I don’t know why they tried to sneak the misleading flavor text in there.

You get random cards from one of 3 pools. The board interactions one is by far the strongest pool.

A potential has to be put in the right context to express itself

I don’t see what is missleading in there

If you’re sick, an antibiotic is potentially the perfect solution, but it will be useless if it’s a virus

‘Potentially perfect’ ‘spin the wheel of yogg saron’ ‘summon an awesome invention’
‘Each turn transform this into a random minion while this is in your hand’ Man we’ve had a lot of slot machines in trench coats over the years haven’t we?

Not sure why some people completely misunderstand the card. It’s absolutely not totally random. If you do want to avoid board clear and hit face (e g. DK) or if you want to clear (e.g. board based non-DKs) the card is very useful most of the time; I’m sure most of you are impatient and don’t wait to see the opponent deck type; did you even know it’s bad to easily clear DK boards if you have other attack vectors?
