New Warlock Card: Rin, Orchestra of Doom

Oh boy…it’s about to get interesting

So if the opponent has no cards in hand, it draws 2, discards them, then destroys the next 2 cards on the top of the deck. That’s a 4 card kill wrapped up in a 5 mana minion.

Discard warlock! It’s a deathrattle so you can tech Silence. And it’s a symmetrical effect so it can punish you, too, but chances are good that if you’re playing this you’re fine with discarding stuff.

Too bad Sunken City’s curse package and Nathria’s imp package are still around.

Something to punish paladins for using order in the court…

Can’t be too mad at that.

Yes, but they significantly weaken. No Tamsin (both gone) and no Brann. Imp version with Bartender is gone as is Phylactery. Warlock Curse will be the only thing remaining and without Tamsin and Brann it is significantly weaker. It looks likes Discard is here…and, they did say there will be a new way for Warlock to self-damage, so I’m assuming we’ll see a self-damage theme as well.

Yeah, this is definitely going to hurt a bit. Just don’t play Order in the Court against Warlock lol

and people cry about patchwerk lol

its worth risking discarding the curse if the hand is full is overdraw 2 discard 2 and destroy 2

I’m not sure about this card, it affects both players, you’d have to build around it to make it worthwhile and it’s a pretty lackluster effect to build an entire deck around.

Basically, this card is not strong enough to be a core card to build around, thus it is a tech card. As a tech card it is horrible due to the random nature. So overall card is pretty crap.

My guess, will not see much play. Seems like a much worse version of alter of fire.

They could of made this a much more interesting card with:

“Both players discard their hands, and draw as many cards, then discard that many cards from the top of their decks.”

The fact that everything is limited at 2 really makes this card quite weak.

Option A

Rare · Spell · Murder at Castle Nathria · Discover a friendly minion to resurrect and give it Rush. It dies at the end of turn.

Option B

Legendary · Minion · March of the Lich King · After a friendly minion dies, gain its Deathrattle.

Option C

Epic · Spell · March of the Lich King · Trigger a friendly minion

Option D

This is going to be fun :smiling_imp:

Not yet. But each expansion there is usually 2 themes for each class. Clearly, lock is getting something to build around this. The question is what?

Rin is a powerful card - while Discard Warlock has always been a bit of a gimmick (despite its success in the Wild format, who knew that printing a card mechanic over and over again would eventually result in something strong), the control that Rin can impose on the opponent’s deck is pretty scary. We saw it with Patchwerk essentially deleting possible winning combinations in a deck - and now Rin destroys 2 cards and discards 2 cards, one extra card than Patchwerk.

Ye we all love to be on the receiving end of that.

The set only revealed 59 out of 145 cards there way more to see plus the core set rotates same day Festival comes out

Deathrattle is my favorite mechanic, it’s mainly why I play Priest. However, that whole Warlock synergy looks mighty enticing

But what about Deathrattle Rogue?

DR Rogue plays a bit different than my style. The Wild version is just an OTK and the Standard version is just Big Priest 2.0.

I don’t find either style to be fun. With Rogue, I enjoy the Copy/Shuffle shenanigans of stuff like Gang Up / Togwaggles Scheme more because I can’t do that in Priest.

So if DR Rogue was more Copy and Shuffling, I’d enjoy that.

It’s a symmetrical effect, though.

I love this card. I think it’s less cool than the original Rin but it still looks fun. I was hoping for some deck thinning pay offs like from Barrens, but I feel like they would have revealed those alongside this.

Wonder if there’s a discolock package in the core set.

In the initial expansion reveal, they did show animation of a Warlock and their opponent at fatigue and drawing for damage and said Warlock would be getting a new way to damage themselves. I wonder if they are connected (fatigue + damage archetype)

This care reminds me of Altar of Fire, but with a lot more synergy because its a deathrattle. Discarding from hand is also pretty huge. Depending on how reliant Warlock are on not burning specific cards in their own deck, it could be good.

I was so hyped to see Rin was coming back but I’m quite disappointed. The card is interesting and there are plenty of ways to abuse it to duplicate the effect, but being a double edged sword I’m not sure what we’re trying to accomplish with it.

Keep in mind that if a good synergy card comes along that pairs well with it, the downside could be an upside. For example, 1 mana shuffle all cards you discarded this game into your deck. Suddenly, discarded cards don’t matter as much.
