I think everyone is going to hate gravity lapse within about 4 minutes of the expansion launch but its interesting to see priest with a traditional aggro package (turn 1 minion, turn 2 buff and so forth) curve out. It also gives overheal a bit of a side package if you dont want to go the OTK hedanis route (which you will because it will be better still). It is also a shame that dragon priest seems dead now with only a 5 mana neutral spellburst dragon being added.
As far as hunter goes I guess the innkeeper has some new toys because hunter players certainly dont. I hope the miniset ties the whole discover archetype together because yikes it looks really underwhelming. Also its incredibly weird to see a class only get 1-3 drops (outside of the 5 drop spell)
Honestly the only priest card that interests me is Anchorite. It will fit into a tempo dragon overheal deck I’m playing. The rest of the set though is… ehhh. K’ure is nice though, and if any of the other cards make a splash it’ll be that one. The 2 mana buffs aren’t getting played, and the dranei package looks very non impactful. We’re still going to have big spell mage, ramp druid, reno warrior, pain lock, and whatever else is good now. So the new stuff has to be better than that, and I don’t see how any of these can fit into a meta.
It’s a real shame because priest needs card draw more than anything, and it got none this set. It’s also still gonna be reliant on either hedanis or zarimi to close out games. The Mystified To’cha is such a waste of a card…just like the last mini set. So many dead cards from 2024 going into next year’s rotation is gonna leave priest in a really bad spot.
I think everyone is going to hate gravity lapse
I do see the potential in gravity lapse, but I’m not worried about it being that important. The archetype it wants to go in, control, is severely lacking in lethality. Reno priest and control priest builds are really really bad. And I don’t foresee that changing after the expansion. Druid is the class you’re gonna wanna look out for. Especially dungar druid once they reveal a certain 8 drop card that’s going to go right into the deck and make people cry.
Holy moly… it’s happening
Starship, I suppose, is supposed to be exodia
Exarch very interesting, sounds much broken
Shield of Askara copying itself is going to be annoying, but when you add to that the image of an Unkilliax, and then both of them being revived again and again, you immediately head to the Priest thread to vent some more.
Lol at the meme troll card, Mystified To’cha xD must be an internal joke of some kind, probably a parody of the “21 conspiracy” (42 is double the conspiring xD)
Anchorite…Jesus, yo…back to basics of HS!! Health and boards!
Orbital Halo…why is Priest suddenly getting Paladin cards?
Gravity Lapse - design of the year - the name of the card perfectly describes it’s effect in game, but only when you already know what that effect is xD
The exarch can be really good in egg hunter. I can see her and maybe the taunt cards be played there.
Anchorite…Jesus, yo…back to basics of HS!! Health and boards!
Anchorite is sort of a reprint of a card from the darkmoon faire mini set. Do you remember that pony priest got that was never played in any competitive deck… or any deck at all… ever? Well, this version is better, so it has a chance. But the boy I’m referring to is
Anchorite is 3 mana instead of 4 mana though, and that matters. Also, his effect is simply overheal rather than a static amount, so he scales faster. If you overheal a heartthrob for 7 HP with holy spring water, not only will heartthrob summon a 7 drop, but if Anchorite is on the field he will also gain 7 max HP himself, making the heartthrob a 2/12.
I give this conext because it matters for the type of deck Anchorite would work in. He doesn’t go well in the current overheal priest where you only have 4 minions you actually care about.. I take it back, he does go into current overheal priest. Overheal in its current form only cares about hedanis, amanthul, injured hauler, and its draw engine the crimson clergy. Anchorite can make them impossible to trade into via board, so he absolutely goes in current overheal.
That said, there is another direction you can take the deck. Anchorite can also go into a board centric deck that puts a lot of stats on board. He wants cards like heartthrob, ambient lightspawn, possibly papercraft angel, and the like to support him. Nobody plays Brain masseus in any priest deck, but anchorite supports a board flooding stat buffing deck. But the question is, can that deck kill the opponent before they ramp into 9 mana when you’re at 5 and drop their board swing dungar that pulls yogg and unkilliax. The moment unkilliax is cheated out on turn 4 or 5 that strategy evaporates in an instant.
EDIT: Well, upon thinking on it more, yes you just run this in overheal priest. An injured hauler is obnoxious with 7 max hp. Now make that hauler a 3/20 that keeps getting overhealed. Yes, its an overheal priest card. But there is an alternate direction you can go with anchorite. It absolutely goes into overheal.
Not this particular expansion, no, I was apparently on one of my multiple breaks
I took a couple of 1-2-year breaks throughout my HS career
But it’s no surprise to me it’s a reprint of a card, or a combo of multiple ones, because that seems to be their common go-to method of design lately - is it because of Nostalgia being the 10-year anniversary team, or is it because they’re lazy, or maybe because they think “why change if it’s working good”, I don’t know, but yeah, it is what it is, you know
Hmm, I see you really don´t know classic sci-fi literature, otherwise you would know the referrence and why there is seemingly arbitrary number 42…
Yeah, I’m not that big into sci-fi
Now that you wrote this, I immediately recalled where it’s from - The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Galaxy. I read it, but it didn’t really leave any marks on me
Even then I couldn’t remember what that number was related to in the book xD
It’s one of those you read because it’s so popular and talked about, but you’re not really a fan of the genre, so you don’t understand it or don’t care enough to understand it
I was big into sci-fi when I was boy/teenager - all that classics like Lem, Assimov, Clark, Herbert etc. - but it is some 30 years ago…
That being said, I read Hitchhiker´s guide many years ago for same reasson as you - it was too popular to ignore and I have to admit - I was disappointed, maybe too big expectations, I don´t know, just didn´t ring the bell with me
Yep, yep, nice to hear the same opinion from someone who loves the genre, because I feel that if a book is truly a masterpiece, it should resonate with ANYONE, no matter their preferred genre
I could name hundreds of books belonging to their own genre or sub-genre which I don’t like but the books left a mark on me
This just ain’t it
Tbf Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy isn’t really a sci-fi book series, but more just in the absurd comedy genre. It is among the best pieces of british humor ever made imo. But as with all british humor, either you find it the funniest thing in the world or not funny at all. No in-betweens.
Personally I love it.
No, it belongs to the genre of sci-fi, comedy sci-fi being its subgenre
But you’re definitely right about the other stuff:
The best version of it, is the BBC TV Show followed by the BBC radio show. The book itself is great but a large part of the charm is the hilarious sarcasm of the narrator (better than Douglas Adams himself narrating it in some audio books).
I see it as an automaton buff card, set stats, then reaplly aura
But autonamaton is pretty darn unplayable so that’s a moot point. The deck got killed (utterly murdered) by the nerfs to celestial projectionist and shattered reflections. You could say it’s merely a… shattered reflection… of its former self
I have a feeling people will use Gravity Lapse wrong and then they will come to the forums to complain about how its bugged, rigged and they were cheated out a win. IE they will play something like a 2/1 use Gravity Lapse and wonder why their opponents 8/8, 4/5 and 6/3 changed into 8/8, 4/4 and 3/3 instead of 8/1, 4/1, and 6/1.
There was a group of people that built a super computer over many generations that answered, “What is the answer to life, the universe and everything?”
This was a multi-generational project due to the advancements in computer science/programming/engineering. The Big Day finally arrived and the people gathered around to find The Answer their ancestors sought so bad.
The answer was “42.”
And that was it. No other explanation or information was offered.
Yes, the more complex the question, the simpler the answer!
As a tarot practictioner (only for myself, mind you), there is an art to asking the right question.
Otherwise, you will just get nonsense. There are a number of theories as to the symbolism of “42.”
But I think it’s a double digit number where both digits are even implicating balance is key.
When you multiply it by 2, you get 84. A possible reference to Orwell’s 84. But there is no telling. For all we know, Mr. Adams could have just as easily pulled it out of a hat. Or asked a random kid on the street for a number.
