New priest epic: plague of Flik Skyshiv (Whirlpool)

Also dont forget it was an Epic so you could play 2, Soul Mirror is childs play compared to it.

Psychic Scream is one of the best cards ever printed nothing came close in over 5 years for Priest.

If Psychic Scream goes to Core I’d do a happy dance.

I demand a new Anduin hero with the threaten emote of “Get Flushed”, before I use this card :stuck_out_tongue:

I really had a hard time slotting in soul mirror even though I own the card, it only made the cut because I was missing other cards. Really if you are clever at knowing which minions to attack most of the time mass hysteria is the best board clear and that one only costs 5 mana and is rare. I don’t even see lightbomb or psychic scream anymore and well plague of death silences so I wouldn’t even put whirlpool down at 6th best because I can think of more cards that clear earlier or have better effects.

The only reason it is this expensive is they are pushing a minion centric meta and I suppose they want board wipes to be nearly unplayable, look at other examples from this set which I also give 1* including trenchstalker. These minions are some of the strongest we’ve ever seen but at 7+ mana minions become very tricky to play. Saying that I think 90% of the set is really weak so far and the other like 10% are really insanely broken so it’s not a very good set balance wise and you could probably just mostly spend dust on the cards you really want if you were being efficient.

Well Soul mirror is great in control meta, especially if you can discount it to 6-5-4 and you can use other discounted spells to clear the rest of the board or alternatively build the board for your own. Thats the reason Soul mirror is in control meta 4* (if DR is played, 5*) and in aggro/OTK meta 1-2* (similar to expensive big boardclears).

So yeah, it feels better than Plague for me, especially since you can follow it up with something - clear the board with more spells, develop board with those few mana, heal your minions or do whatever you want.

Whirlpool is far from it - it costs 9 and there are no discounts now so you cant really follow it up with anything, you dont get any deathrattles or healing from lifesteal minions, you dont get the silence effect from Whirlpool either and you dont get rid of spawns/DRs as you do with Scream/plague.

If your opponent has 3 DR minions on board, which spawn minions, it might be even useless/counterproductive, because you still get face damage while not doing anything and dont get bonuses yourself from soul mirror.

Soul mirror, plague and scream were more often than not the ultimate “you save yourself” spells from board. This might not be even that.

It is probably more “fair” card, which has interesting effect, which will have some impact in 1 in 10 games. In other 9, it will be dead card in your hand/draw or it will maybe delete some minions from hand/deck (which are non essential anyway).

Which means it will not be played I believe, maybe sometimes discovered.

Psychic scream has been and always will be one of the worst designed cards in HS. It’s a sweeper which is fine but it completely invalidated the mechanic in game that fights against sweepers. So unless you want another year of noninteractive games and making Deathrattle a pointless card effect it needs to stay in wild.

I like this card against freeze shaman, and maybe kazakusan druid. Most other matchups it’s probably too late and the flik effect is irrelevant.

I do like the general idea of being able to destroy all copies of something as a hedge against infinite value, shuffle decks. But we don’t have any right now.

I wasn’t disputing that plague was better than soul mirror, I was saying that mass hysteria was my go to before both of those cards, I was running 2x mass hysteria and soul mirror but only because I didn’t own any psychic screams, I totally think psychic scream is more useful in that you can throw really useless cards into their deck too and kind of brick them up.

But even in those 1/10 games where you might get to play it, it might not be as impactful as people are imagining, deleting 3 minions out of some decks might even help that deck, I have had lots of decks that really want to top deck spells in the endgame and you might just be helping them get there faster.

This card solves currently no existing problems for priests. Unless the changes in the “new basic set” cards, and new expansion cards change the meta enough, this will be a meme card.

A card that deals with a great many decks and will be screamed about as unfun and uninteractive etc, etc.
While other classes will get crickets.

Yeah, forgot about that one.

fair enough  20…

The only time Whirlpool will be powerful is when you Dredge it off an Illuminate. Tbh, that’s less about Whirlpool being strong and more about Illuminate being really powerful.
