New priest epic: plague of Flik Skyshiv (Whirlpool)

Well, priest needed a new board clear since soul mirror was rotating.

Seems fair enough to me. I don’t get all the hate to be honest. It’s 9 mana.

I just want Team 5 to change its official name to Plague of Flik Skyshiv now…sounds so much cooler.

how are you planning on changing your class from druid to priest?

in wild we have plague of death which is waaaaaay better than this one

I think its becuase of the effect i understand the game might be over before then against some classes but mayb there is a way to reduce it.

One thing I didn’t consider was Florist.

With this being the only Nature priest spell, you can reliably discount it.

It’s good in control matchup, but otherwise a worse twisting nether - and twisting nether is unplayable.

It is OK card, probably 2*, maybe 3*?

Positive(s?):
Priest needed some boardclear, as almost everything is gone (except the odd attack minion thingy, that is basically useless). Thats the bonus star to make it 2*.
Might have some fringe effect, when it does something usefull…

The issue is:

  • If you have board (and you cant get it killed), it can affect you more negativelly.
  • It is completely dead card as 9* against aggro/midrange decks - you either win or lose before it gets to be played and will have very little effect, if it does something on those decks.
  • When I think about Combo/control decks, they dont usually throw their pieces on board, usually the OTK involves card you want to keep in your hand.
  • Useless against Kaza, as you are facing treasures and you… clear the board? You probably die next turn, as you need to always be ahead so you dont die, not give them freedom and play catchup.

Maybe in some fringe situation will be good, but more like discover spell or when Priest gets some discounts, so it is playable with some board development…?

I would prefer either 3-5/6 board clear or if for 9 with really strong effect, which swings the game… Either some board development, silence, armor gain, heal, something influential. Not that I might burn (or not, if he played them already) some random minions in opponent deck/hand at turn 8-9.

It is kind of matchup dependent, but you could certainly get value from flik in most matchups with the exception of highlander decks. Flik is an excellent card, assassination effect with upside. Especially good against Preist and Rogue decks that shuffle extra copies of minions. Or something like shudderwock. Even good if your opponent has a really annoying 2 of like flamewaker for example. Good also vs tokens like treants or dude palidan

Flik was good, because it was in different era, when more minions were played and it was less combo/aggro heavy. For 6 mana and you got a body and could possibly replay it next turn for 4. You could play it around the time that “bigger” threaths were coming on board, so you kill them and the copies.

This is 9 mana, which means that possibly both copies were played, there are not so many board centric decks, combo pieces are quite “rare” and not played on board without killing your opponent (charge minions for Warrior, spell damage for shaman, the 2/3 and legendary for DH etc) or they are spell based (druid flush the board and buff it).

So yeah, the only effect I can see working against current decks, that have some board presence and where it could be usefull is pretty much… Freeze minions/bird for shaman…?

An animated “live action” version of the spell:

it’s a priest card, this is a good enough reason for me :joy:

I mean i’ll take this over a meta of miracle/infinite DR priest. If they have to play to the board and get this as a reset button like Twisting i see no problems.

Here you go!

Animation starts around 1:20 in.

Thank you.
What a wierd video must be a cultural thing but i never expected a reveal to include a guy eating and doing laundry…

Anyway on the important part the start of the animation looks nice but i think i saw somewhat reused assets from Shaman by the end.
Real shame.

YESSSS. A good card for the wild Priest full board clear meme deck:DDDDDD

No it isn’t, the while all copies part of this spell is very important.

Those second copies make or break a lot of decks

I don’t want to derail the discussion but I just saw someone getting down voted over there for preaching the gospel that Soul Mirror is one of the best cards ever printed, which is the truest statement of all time, and it got someone upset enough that they down voted it which unnecessarily ground my gears, but I couldn’t be bothered to make an account just to upvote them cuz they be spittin the truth. Flik on a spell effect won’t come close to Soul Mirror (or even Plague of Death which was slow, clunky and over-the-top).

Why u mad, mysterious downvoter over at outof.cards, whoever and wherever the hell you are?

Is it realy , did we all forget Priest had Psychic Scream at the same mana cost???
Soul Mirror is a realy good card saying its one of the best cards ever printed is ludicrous its not even Priest best removal.

HEY! We don’t EVER talk about that cursed card 'round here. A stain on this game is what that accursed card is. Ruffles my feathers to even think about the alternate reality in which…core set includes…! I mustn’t scream, I shouldn’t scream!
