yes, at least on fifa, there’s a reset every year but here, if you don’t have a huge collection, you’ll have to grind for years or spend hundreds
paying gives a huge advantage, 4 choices of hero instead of 2 isn’t nothing

piece of advice : stop now while you can. Paying $$ for this game is nuts. Its NOT a skill based game. Its an RNG/Draw game. Dont waste your money on HS!
And what is wrong with HS being pure RNG draw simulator with little to no skill ceiling?
Some people are actually playing it for its pure casual approach = easy to master. Sure, you cannot hope to master it in a few monhts (unless you spend hundreds of EUR) but still for me is no1 game to acompany me on toilet.
Isn’t that like saying that poker is a skill-less game?
They definitely need better matchmaking and tutorial for new players. Here is the thing. There is a way to access Demon Hunter deck that is decent for apprentice ranks. You have to finish SP adventure. When you reach rank 20 you can choose free deck which is decent for start. The game is not easy.
Well, i´m still f2p (apart form 2 5€packs, sue me).
It takes at least 1 year to get more than one class to a good level collection wise, now i´m nearing the end of the 2nd and i can play 5 classes to my liking, with the next rotation it´ll probably go up to 6-7, so ~2more classes per year.
And while i vastly enjoy playing around with more stupid deck ideas - to just compete climb a single ok deck is mostly enough. It´s hard to grasp at the beginning, but there´s quite some skill involved in playing hearthstone and climbing is not soo dependent on a specific deck (albeit ofc you can´t just randomly put 30 cards together), but mostly on getting actually good at the game.

Those are budget decks that mostly uses basic and core cards, which all new players have access to. I would suggest to start with those budget decks. The dust cost is also very cheap
Not gonna BS or anything. These decks won’t take a player to Gold 5 or Platinum etc. Even less to legend. But depending on the class, a new player should be able to hit high silver or low gold, which will give cards and packs as a reward at the end of every month. They are also pretty easy decks which will give a new player a chance to learn the game.
So I highly recommend the budget decks from that website for a new player
Welcome to Hearthstone. Matchmaking has been garbage since day one
it´s you forum-user level (which for most of us does not allow direct linking).
you can however use preformatted text to post links:

Still won’t allow me to post links, despite following your suggestion
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/
just type your link, then mark it and use the preformatted
text thingy(ctrl+e) and it should work, ofc it´s not linking directly, but anyone can easily copy and paste it that way.
Thanks for the help and patience!
that happens on any card game i played
just play what you like complete quests , dont focus much on climbing
because focusing so too much on climbing the ladder can take the fun out of any game
Also accept and face the fact that some deck compositions are Auto-Lose situation against some matchups.
There are many No Win Situation games in Heartstone. With experience you will notice them quickly and learn to concede instead of wasting your time and struggling for nothing.
Turn back while you still can
Only advice is maybe work towards crafting one of the in-game deck recipes. They are actually quite fun to play.
You won’t be competitive for a while if that’s your primary aim.
The game is:
Free to try
Pay to compete
Netdeck/Counter netdeck to win
There are other ways to play, like building strange and unexpected combos, or flashy decks once you have the cards for them. These have lower win rates and isn’t the purpose. I’d rather win fewer games to have the ones I do win use explosive turns to win big. Ladder climbing is not something I’m interested in.
You will honestly need to be putting in about $100 every 4 months to build out and maintain a decently fleshed out collection. You can be “free to play” but that just leaves you stuck in some limited couple of netdecks situation where you are stuck with a few options to play and I don’t think is interesting unless you just want to climb.
It was way worse before. Before it was win or nothing. Now a days you can progress although slower when you lose.
you missed the golden era when this wasnt a problem 4 years ago. Matchmaking isnt clicking for anyone let alone starting players.
The ranking systems has big problems. Its outdated and simply doesnt work. Everyone is mashed together causing issues as you mentioned.
The game has suffered in the last few years and theyre not making any changes for 1.5 years when MS takesover. By that time there wont be no one left.
Maybe complete the solo adventures before facing real players? That way you can get a feel for the heroes and their abilities and find one that suits you. The difficulty increases gradually so not too overwhelming.
Also, maybe look online for some good decks. You can “dust” cards you won’t use to fill in the gaps. I would strongly advise against creating your own deck at this stage - there are dozens of sites offering successful decks which are easy to copy.
Note: I just started about two months ago, but I’m having a great time. I have made it to platinum twice so far. I have not really noticed much toxic behavior or fairness issues which other people seem to complain about
