This week, while playing on the ladder with various F2P collections against an influx of new players with bad aggro decks, I got curious about what the new player experience was like now with all the available Catch Up packs and the new Apprentice Track—so I made a new account today to check it out.
At this point, I have leveled the Warlock class to level 15 and I have won 5 games in Standard against Blizzard bots, which has provided me with the following available resources:
12 legendaries (61 counting the core set cards)
3280 dust
100 gold (spent the rest of the gold on Badlands packs)
18 unopened expansion & Standard packs
And in 7 days I can claim a third premade deck. I will probably choose the Pally deck since it comes with 3 decent legendaries.
Started a new collection on the Asia server today while exploring the new Apprentice Rewards Track.
After completing the track, I ended up with
695 gold (an odd amount due to first free Arena run)
1700 dust
~ 9 Badlands packs (I lost count)
14 unopened Standard packs
10 Legendaries (56 counting the Core Set)
I will get two more Legendaries from uncollected, but already completed achievements.
A choice of a free premade deck in 7 days.
And I currently have a quest chain to get a total of three more Catch Up packs
I just made a new collection on the EU server and used it to complete the Apprentice Track, along with winning 5 games in Ranked to get the three Catch Up packs from the quest chain and a card back.
My results were poor, since I ended up with only 9 craft-able Legendaries this time—six of which come from the two premade deck rewards.
A good article that I will link below states: “Buy and open one pack from each Standard expansion previous to Showdown in the Badlands: Voyage to the Sunken City, Murder at Castle Nathria, March of the Lich King, Festival of Legends, and TITANS. This will give you the opening bonuses for each expansion….
The author got 16 craft-able Legendaries, while my best result was only 12 craft-able Legendaries without having bought and opened a pack first from each the expansions.
By the time I got my ranked card back, I had completed the following three achievements, which gave 1 Badlands pack, and 2 Legendaries: Pozzik and Ignis.
For the article you referenced, If you’re talking about the guaranteed legendary from each expansion that is, only thing you missed was it’s a 1 in 10 for the legendary, the 10th pack being guaranteed if you didn’t get it already. @Zee sorry
I think what your saying is that in the above quote, the article’s author was only referencing the bonuses towards getting the first Legendary for an expansion (which you are guaranteed to get by the tenth pack), and that may be true, but I could not help but wonder if he also meant or had insight into something more, which impacted the Legendary offering bonuses for the Catch Up packs.
He did get 4-7 more craft-able Legendaries than I did from my three different completions of the Apprentice Track.
There is also the benefit of getting the free Legendaries from each expansion when you buy the first pack for those expansions. I’m not sure if you risk getting a duplicate of a free Legendary if you open the Catch Up packs before buying one pack from each of the expansions.
I had read that article after I had nearly completed my third Apprentice Track, and I had spent the first 500 gold earned to buy 5 Badlands packs, since opening those were not going to compete with getting the maximum amount cards possible from the Catch Up packs.
Ironically, the collection that I got a Legendary from first Badlands pack that I opened, also ended up with the fewest amount of craft-able Legendaries.
Well it’s that time again, when new or returning players (who have been away for at least 90 days) will be eligible to get a free deck from among 6 choices:
Because each battletag is made up of two parts—a name followed by a hashtag (or a dash) and numbers—different accounts do not actually share the exact same name or battletag.
For instance, your name or battletag is Bodybuilder-11309
I have four different accounts with the name Zee, but each battletag has a different series of numbers associated with that name.
