New Neutral Epic Minion: Ashen Elemental

Epic · Minion · Murder at Castle Nathria · Battlecry: Whenever your opponent draws a card next turn, they take 2 damage.

It’s a sort-of soft tech card against decks that like to draw lots of cards.

Guaranteed to do at least 2 damage at the beginning of your opponent’s turn.

This card is fantastic and is exactly what I didn’t know what I was looking for in my Warlock deck. I love it. Things are about to get really interesting.

You can play this after you have a Shellfish on board and the opponent is going to be suffering some damage if they remove the Shellfish. I can’t wait to play around with my Warlock idea.

On one hand, this could be fun against decks that draw the entire deck in 15 turns or less. It would be sweeter if the opponent took damage for any draws on the previous turn, but maybe we’ll see that next year.

This does have a downside, if the opponent is quest warlock. Tamsin will be begging you to play this card against her.

I don’t think is good, the opponent control the draws, he just play something else in the next turn.

If the text was “Until your next turn every time your opponent draw a card he takes 2 damage” instead I will see some potential with cards make your opponent draw cards like the 7/7 deathrattle, the 5/5 pirate or kill the 1/5 naga a lot of decks use after played him.

Pretty powerful against Casts When Drawn as that leads to multiple forced draws, but I can’t really remember something that would take advantage of this (I don’t see Garrote Rogue using this).

That’s kind of the point.

You play this before you think your opponent is likely to do a big, draw heavy turn, and you force them to wait another turn before they can do what they had originally intended (unless they’re fine with taking a lot of damage to do it).

For example, think of a Quest DH opponent who has just played the draw Sigil: you deal a minimum of 4 damage, and possibly force them to abandon their plan to complete a quest stage. Similarly, a Warlock who has just played their Mithril Rod probably has to wait to get their first activation as well unless they want to take additional face damage. Druid’s Miracle Growth would make them take 6 more to the face. Etc.

Getting the maximum damage from this isn’t the most important part. It’s your ability to force your opponent to change their plans based on the downside from this battlecry.

Now we just need a way to force draws on our opponent at the start of their turn.

FTFY

For a tech card looks very specific to me, unless one of those archetypes really take over the ladder I don’t see people using this card.

The viper have more uses, 3/4 instead 2/4 and tradeable on top of that and still be cut from many lists, this one looks inferior as a tech card, like I said, if you have a way to force opponent draws and take advantage of the battlecry I will see some potential, for a tech card is just too narrow.

I fear no man, but that thing… it scares me.

It’s also Agony support isn’t it?

Not only you get the fatigue damage, you also get an extra 2 for each agony drawn.

What a coincidence!
I sometimes shudder to imagine what inhuman thoughts lie behind the opponent’s hero face…

One thing going for this card is with Brann and 2 copies your opponent takes 8 damage from their initial draw of the turn and 8 more damage for each additional draw. In Wild against Rigged Fair Game you can make a Mage Explode with 32 damage. Just need to wait for the video of it happening now.

Yeah, I was earlier thinking Shaman in Standard seeing his opponent DH loading up Sigil of Alacrity and the shaman going “lol ok”.

While not otk, DH could easily take 16 right there and then. (Brann, parrots, bolner, etc)

Ok, deck intro time!

very much needed tech with all the drawing, unfortunately it´s not this and next turn, otherwise we´d had what the people always wanted - priest going for the quick otk.

This seems pretty bad, not only is the effect kind of meh, but it also has bad stats for the cost.

Woo, this card is very interesting!
I don’t think it will be good, but I like the fact that it exists.
I hope to find one

Well you have to hope your shelfish survives a round and is not silenced but i agree this is a very interesting card considering how may classes have lots of draw this wil see play for sure.
