New Mode Announced! TWIST mode

Goodbye Classic Mode. I guess that’s one way to fix the massive bots that live there.

Due to the short June season, there will be one format for both the June and July Beta seasons of Twist. That format is called “New Age,” a new evergreen format that includes the Core Set, plus all sets from Ashes of Outland forward. That means, during this Beta period, it will consist of:

** Core*
** Ashes of Outland*
** Scholomance Academy*
** Madness at the Darkmoon Faire*
** Forged in the Barrens*
** United in Stormwind*
** Fractured in Alterac Valley*
** Voyage to the Sunken City*
** Murder at Castle Nathria*
** March of the Lich King*
** Path of Arthas*
** Festival of Legends*

As new sets are added to the game, they will be added to the New Age pool, which might be brought back from time to time. For these Beta seasons, there will also be a special rules variant to the New Age format: no neutrals allowed. That will let you re-experience the New Age, but through new eyes! When we bring New Age back in the future, it might come back with the same rules variant, a different one, or no rules variant at all.

My prediction:

They want new “metas” to be found in this mode, but they fail to take into account that new cards are more powerful than old cards, and putting a “no neutrals” requirement only hurts decks that actually used neutrals. Of course, that’s the rule for THIS season only, so that will change later which is a good sign. But for starters, we’re just going to see the same stuff we see now / saw before.

What we will see is just same iterations of broken decks of the past with few changes. Pure Paladin is likely to dominate (duh?) as are decks that were good that rarely used neutrals anyway. And MANY decks over the few years only used a few neutrals…those are easily replaced. So you just get the same rehashed decks. For example, Hound Hunter right now only runs 3 neutrals…easily replaced and you end up with…Hound Hunter.

All in all, the card pool favors meta decks of today and yesteryear…so expect the same metas you thought you got away from recently.

I like the no neutral card restriction, this mode seems fun. The game needs more breaks from the torment of Standard and Wild while still playing regular Hearthstone unlike the other game modes they’ve released.

Can i ask to ban countess and purator for this season already?

You should not be reward for going pure in a format that only allows pure decks.

I’m more stoked about the patch that comes later this month, hopefully with some substantial changes

And here’s the kicked…if the card pools stay with the restriction, Countess will not have neutral legendary minions in the card pool. That’s pretty big and makes it so Countess can hit the recast stuff a bit more easily.

My ‘prediction’ is that once again they’re forcing another destined-to-fail mode on us just to sell more wild packs.

Also play both the recruiting spells.

Making the deck ridiculous consistent.

Not to mention, all the Librams would be back.

So everyone else is playing Pure decks while Paladin is playing its current Pure deck + Librams.

Gee, I wonder what’s going to reign supreme?

I’m sorry, but this seems like a fail to me.
We shall see, I suppose.

Not gonna lie.

I masochist enough to try for a solution but for people looking for “New metas to form” they really did choice the worst twist possible.

The new old era.

I look forward to this mode highlighting how downright awful the various teams are in creating the cards between classes.

A few classes will be outright unplayable

haha perfectly said!

This does not pique my interest at all,but hey, whatever. Some ppl will e joy it

Of course virtually no one on the forum will like it what with most being universally negative about anything Hearthstone.

I dont hate it. I mean no matter what twist they put theres gonna be a meta where a few decks dominate.

It could have been so much worse. Like just rotating sets, where the most recent expansion would just dominate

I fully expect then to be banning cards to balance the format, which could actually shake up metas pretty easily. And I expect them to do it as often as standard balance patches

I am willing to wait and see, but I question how viable some classes will even be given the cards they will be allowed.

Well this entire idea of a rotating mode is, not something ive ever liked, nor wanted in HS.
And i wouldnt have cared 1 bit, if they dint just replace classic.

Ive NEVER liked arena, or duels.
And standard and Wild i find havent been good in Years, ive really hated their design direction for past few years

Classic made me enjoy the game again/still.
And this is imo, a dumb mode thats doomed and will be way to expensive for average player.
SO yeah i dont like, this mode replaces the 1thing i still liked about Hearthstone.

I guess I just don’t understand why it’s a twist. It seems like they threw some darts at the wall and this is the slop that they came back with.

What’s the point?

This just seems like differently broken wild.

I quite like it i am curious to so a no neutral card mode many ppl have asked for a rotating mode as some of their old wild cards are unplayable.

It wont grow stale as the format keeps changing.
