libram paladin and rogues with shadowstep are going to hate this guy!
Since Shamans can play this card it would be interesting to combine it with Shudderblock. 3 or potentially 6 cards gone from the opponents hand.
Everyone will hate this card. It’s going to be fine outside of rogue and shaman where it will be very toxic.
is a terran card rogue cant run it
just what handbuff needed even more obnoxious “you can’t play game” cards
should be an obvious joke
in reality, we’ll have to see what starship cards Warrior gets. Shaman ain’t gonna run this or any starship stuff when Swarm/Meteors are so much more linear and powerful, and Paladin may but likely will just stick with Handbuff/Lynessa until rotation.
As will the ceaseless expanse, and things like chalice or cards set up from watercolor artist for sif mage. Other OTK decks also often discount stuff to zero. Deleting the cheapest thing in hand is often more relevant than people would assume.
That’s actually a good point. Hitting a CE with this will be pretty funny.
This is good against wishing well rogue, and variants of decks that rely on low cost cards, like an OTK lynessa.
I think the card burn is near irrelevant. Maybe with Shudder it becomes more substantial, but generally deleting the lowest cost card in your hand is quite irrelevant (yes, even shadowstep).
A 4 mana 6/2 with Stealth tho… that’s one decent body. Devs clearly wanted this to see play. I’m not a fan tbh. Too polarizing.
This is the worst way to try and make the game more interactive. Its not fun to have cards ripped out of your hand, especially if your opponent can repeat the effect.
Make the game interactive by reducing the amount of burn and creating more board tension. Not by having people getitng lucky occasionally with discard effects.
What does that even mean? You find shadowstep useless? Give it to me.
You mean reduce board clears right? Burn is not the problem with lack of board tension.
Its part of it. Clears facilitate otk but you still have to be able to kill from hand somehow
Where in my post did I say shadowstep is useless.
What I mean is, most games you won’t care much if this happens to you one time, or even two, whatever it is this hits. No real rogue player would blink an eye at losing 1 shadowstep, unless you’re playing something that is 100% leaning on steps like Lamplighter rogue back then. And that’s if it hits shadowstep. With some exceptions like Ceaseless expanse, Reska or Giants, the lowest cost card in a hand is most often quite irrelevant. This would only start to hurt if you double/triple or step the battlecry.
Sure it’s annoying, but doesn’t really hurt as much as a knowing you can’t remove that 6/2 with Stealth (or even bigger with Handbuff pala). I’m 100% sure without that beastly body this would only see play in meme or platinum decks (Reno warrior etc). With that body it’s gonna see plenty of play.
You would be incorrect. Most OTK combos hinge on something relatively cheap, and 0-1 cost cards are often good cards to hit.
It’s not often going to hit a big flashy thing, but the smaller cost cards tend to be the glue that holds decks together. In most of the meta decks you can find cheap cards that this thing can delete and be impactful.
Shaman gift, rogue shadow steps/break dance, drink spells, ceaseless expanse… It’s pretty easy to hit something that your opponent won’t be happy about losing.
Well, against combo decks you’re not wrong, but I think you overstate how impactful deleting a 1 or 0 mana thing from their hand can be. Even nature shaman wouldn’t be overly concerned if you spend your turn 4 dropping this to snipe a gift. Not an irrelevant move in this instance, surely, but not exactly a power move either.
Well, just looking at the meta decks right now…
All varieties of rogue care about losing shadow step/prep
Swarm shaman won’t like losing gift/pop up book
Nova mage won’t like losing chalice
Armor decks can lose ceaseless
Libram pally loses divinities, lynessa can’t afford to lose their drinks if they want to combo you
You can snipe spell damage minions in asteroid shaman or the miniature shudderblock.
DK’s weapon discover is an excellent hit
Even denying coins is relevant.
Overall, this card’s hand disruption isn’t super flashy, but it does good work.
It’s probably devastating to those decks, if it happens twice on curve,
Shaman can triple its effect.
1 X 3 +1 X 3 = 6 deletions.
Wut (it lethals ANYONE).
Fair enough, I can agree with that statement. Still, I think what really seals the deal is the body.
If this was a 4 mana 4/4 it would be near unplayable outside of more niche Brann/Shudderblock things imo.
i can tell ya right now, I am gonna try to come up a basic hand deletion deck with this card in shaman, some dirty rats and this and murmur and shudder is gonna be fun but probably to slow
