Lol these new cards are so crazy I can’t stop laughing. Keep em coming Blizzard.
It sounds like it would be pretty nutty with Kael’thas.
One mana cost with random effect? Totally ruins your chances on winning if you get this dung pile in your opening hand. MIGHT be awesome played turn 10 also might give a pile crap turn ten and wreck your game.
Pretty bad card by my estimation.
The best possible situation I can see with this (while this probably won’t happen) is Kalecgos and or Kael on board while getting Pyroblasts & Fireblasts from it. Buuut, that’d be pretty rare lol
More jank. Mage has been ruined.
It just adds to the RNG Clown fiesta. Might be worthwhile if combo’ed with Vargoth on turn 10? Could get lucky…
But you don’t HAVE to run this in your deck, you know.
Kael could work well with this. Kalecgos would not, since he would only discount Evocation itself.
Bahahaha, I’m stupid. I totally forgot he would discount Evocation.
Lets just dial the random up to 11 to mage? Shaman gets evo again. Paladin gets murlocs. Priest is all over the place. Demon hunter is a smorc fiesta with card draw, weapons, 1 cost hero power (travesty) and an uninspired mashup of rogue and warlock? They trying to make the posters saying game is disaster prophets?
I like Evocation a lot. It gives a ton of potential choices and great value for only 1 mana without giving Ridiculous Value.
You will have to plan out Hand Space for how many choices you want to look at. Also, it doesn’t clog up your hand with Lowroll Bad Cards like Mana Cyclone.
Would work well in a Fast Paced Deck with Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
4/5 Star Card.
Wait, seriously?
It seems random card generation has cemented itself as the mage thing to do. But seriously, a full hand of spells, just like that? Even if they get discarded at turn’s end, just one good evocation with a Sorc’s Apprentice on board, and suddenly everything goes bonkers. For Wild with Time Warp, one could complete the quest almost instantly. Not to mention, if one actually wanted to keep some of Invoke’s cards, a Mana Cyclone would let one keep whatever gets used.
This spell is just too nuts with any discounts at all.
Cool art, bad card.
When will they understand that playing a series of rng cards is not fun and not going to make Mage relevant in the meta?
Think of it instead as “fishing for an answer”.
Say you have 6 cards. Playing Evocation gives you 5 random spells, chances are at least one will be useful, and you are not getting closer to fatigue.
With some preparation (Apprentice, Dart-Frog etc.) I think the card can be more powerful than is immediately apparent.
If your on turns 8 and later, your card needs to be better then useful it needs to be damn good to get played. Otherwise, your falling behind and in trouble.
but then you remember wild and the existence of open the waygate and this card just fits godly into wild dragon quest reno mage
Exactly. It’s like, say, Cabalist’s Tome, but without clogging your hand afterwards with 3 Glacial Secrets. If there’s Spellslinging support for Mage, this may be pretty good. If there’s any handsize mechanics, that’s even better.
The cost is just a bonus. You get nothing to the situation, too bad; but it just cost you 1 mana. You get something you need, good; and it just cost 1 mana!
It’s also pretty good for extending a Mana Cyclone turn, since Elemental Mage seems to be there in the future. Even better when you get one out of Magic Trick.
ok now they seriously have to nerf open the waygate.
