New Hunter Spells (And Minion)

It seems that way on the surface but Hunters like the board - so it would make sense to use a spell to clear a bigger minion and then attack a smaller one to pop the secret.

I mean, I’ve been in several matchups where they just didn’t pop any secrets and pretty soon my hand was clogged, they popped most or all of them in one turn, and then I’m trying to catch up - on the surface it looks really ridiculous but when I think about everything that could go wrong,

It isn’t so bad. I’ll say that its strong and it will be overwhelming at first until players learn how to play around it - just like all the other secrets.

That might be the case vs secret hunter, but vs dragon hunter you cannot afford to not attack. Dragon hunter puts out so much damage, more than face hunter in my experience, that you can’t afford to let your health dip below 15 or you’re dead next turn.

With all the board pressure and board presence they bring to the board, the secrets are certainly going to be forced to go off. You can’t let a dragonbane sit on board. It must be attacked, and it most definitely will, especially with a new attack loving Demon Hunter class, that secrets will most certainly be the bane of the class. After all, did you see how fast Demon Hunter got destroyed by Rogue secrets in the reveal? Imagine hunter secrets.

It’s like Snake Trap. You get 3/3 worth of stats, but instead of being spread, you get potential bonus effects. Just different flavor of the same thing.

Everyone of these cards is gross or semi gross.

But that’s the thing. People are probably not putting it on DH because it’s reducing the proactive board pressure.

It’s fantastic in a DR build, which isn’t something Hunter is doing nowadays.

No. I had to get ready for work and was not able to watch the reveal.

I play Wild so it will be interesting to see how the new cards will be…I imagine a lot of players might dust off some DR Hunter, or at the very least, variants of Spell/Secret Hunter?

Not sure if you watched the stream, but the new hunter was an absolute monstrosity of a deck. Despite having tons of lifesteal and big taunts, the priest deck just got walked over like it wasn’t even there.

Hunter is going to also have a huge powerspike. The new draw beast give it +3+3 card is gross. If it hits the prime then it’s 4x 7/7s on board with rush. If they have Tundra on board that’s charge. You absolutely cannot let hunter keep anything on board.

I did watch it. It’s DR Handbuff Hunter.

There were no Dragons.

When it hits the actual meta does having a combination of two slow mechanics actually makes the cut?

I wouldn’t say Dragon Hunter is slow by any means. It has killed my priest plenty of times by turn 5. In fact, it kills me faster than Face Hunter could if I drew no health restore.

You can also combine the two very slightly. Dragon Hunter can run Beast Draw tutor and only a few beasts and do really well.

Finally, a secret to synergize with my copy of the Beast! Now I can give my opponent 2 3/3s! But seriously, that secret is kind of broken.

Helboar is also just an amazing minion for Aggro Beast Hunter. It’s got aggressive stats and buffs future beasts (notably the Beast!).

Combine these with Scrapshot, which is just a nutty card in itself. Beast Hunter looks pretty legit with the cards from Ashes of Outland.

Please stop jumping around when discussing Hunter archetypes.

You mentioned the stream, I commented on the stream archetype, DR Handbuff Hunter.

Two slow mechanics, DR and Handbuff.

Sorry, I was talking about a previous post I had talking about Dragons and Beasts possibly merging together and got that mixed up.

I don’t think the beast/dr combo they were running in the stream was as optimal as it can be even though it was extremely powerful in the stream. That looked like a poor version of what’s to come.
