10 is a lot of mana. And we lose Zul’jin to rotation.
If the only reliable way to play this is to cheat it out via Kaelthas, then I’m having a hard time seeing the upside.
Greater Arcane Missiles for 3 extra mana but 1 extra shot and may keep bodies on the field, but loses effectiveness if you have 4 or more minions already.
I suppose the cost is fair, but Hunter is probably the LAST class that would want a card like this.
Funny but for a 10 mana cost, somewhat underwhelming compared to the other game winning ten mana cards we’ve seen. More comparable to a Mind Control than a Shudderwock.
On the other hand, this card is going to be great when randonly generated from Yogg!
Still nowhere as powerful as UI
Hmm, doesn’t look like much on the face of it, 10 mana is the most mana!
But this can hit face, if you’ve cleared the board that’s 12 damage, and because it’s random enemies it can bypass taunt.
Also puts a lot of stats on the board, comparing it to Call of the Wild you get 12/20 stats vs 12/10 for CotW with all that 12 attack being immediately used vs the 5 charge dmg from CotW.
Doesn’t have the Taunt utility of CotW and it does cost 2 mana more, but NS might actually be value for mana.
With no Zul’jin though, I’m not sure if Hunter wants to be running 10 mana spells full stop.
Not sure I want a 10 cost card in my Hunter deck. I’d settle for less bodies and a cheaper cost. 3 for 8 I can see, because T6 is usually Highmane (in midrange) or DK Rexxar (in Wild) but if you’re playing Wild, you’d want Zuljin instead.
Since I play only Wild, Zuljin is already packed with Animal Companion, Spellstones, Secrets, etc. Even if you drew this before Zuljin, there’s too much good stuff to take out for this card. Hunter isn’t typically designed for lategame.
“random enemies”
That’s possible face damage on playing.
They appear to be pushing spells and midrange decks this expansion.
You could try to use Kael’thas to cheat this out. Perhaps combo Kael with Rapid Fire, Arcane Shot, Tracking, a secret, Flare, Fresh Scent, etc.
That’s a lot of ifs and buts! I don’t think you can run any card exclusively to do a 3 card combo with a legendary, just too inconsistent.
12/20 in stats that can potentially go face. 10-mana is a fair cost. If this cost 8-mana like Call of the Wild, can you imagine the hate that would flood the forums when control players started dying to this card following a big board clear? I doubt many Hunters will run this card due to the high cost, but maybe it makes its way into Highlander decks.
Battlegrounds Kodos…
Nagrand Slam looks really annoying.
Even if you have 7 Minions it could hit you for 12 Face Damage then your left facing 4 3/5s…Or Dead…
I think often it will turn out to be 10 Mana:
- Deal 6 to a minion
- Deal 6 to the opponent’s Face
- Summon 2 3/5s
I think it will be a 5 Star Power Card.
Could definitely be wrong and it’s 0 Stars.
It’s 12 face damage with tremendous board presence if they have no minions.
Looks pretty powerful at first.
Even if they have some minions, this still could be used pretty effectively for a swing play.
Definitely a card to keep your eye on.
Looks like a fun card and a potential finisher. 12 potential face damage is no joke. But 10 mana is a big commitment for Hunters. Sure you could cheat it out by using Kael’thas and with low cost spells like Rapid Fire on turn 8. But I don’t think that alone will make this card good enough.
The Kaelthas angle is interesting because Unleash the Beast is still around so there’s another valuable spell that Kael could cheat out. In fact you could cheat out both halves at 10 mana with Kael and 2 Rapid Fires.
But is that better than just Dragoning people down? Seems hard to imagine but at least there’s starting to be something there.
Yeah, priest plays plague of Death on 9, then you drop this for an instant board and 12 to face, not bad for a single card, but still not sure if hunters want to run 10 mana spells, will need more synergy imo.
I guess Hunter will suck next year after the next rotation. Get your Hunter in now while we still have the Dragon package.
On an empty board, this is 10 mana deal 12 to face and summon 12/20 in stats. Pretty good as a finisher in Hunter.
Pfft! With Dragon-, Highlander- and Face Hunter still around? Dream on.
Eer, Dragon Hunters will still have all the Dragons and Dragon synergy cards. The only somewhat meaningful cards they’ll lose are Life Drinker and Leeroy which may or may not weaken the deck.
[Edit]: Oh wait, by “next year” you meant 2021? I wouldn’t try and predict that far in the future without seeing all the new cards of this year.
Not unless additional Basic and Classic Hunter cards get nerfed/HoF’d. With just those cards Hunters have an Aggro/Tempo deck that is at the very least on the cusp of being a decent Ranked deck. The deck generally doesn’t get many cards supporting it in any given Standard year and it is still a decent deck in the majority of metas.
