Midrange hunter clearly needed another card to play on turn 5
But now, instead of paying 5 mana to summon a beast, you pay 5 mana to summon a 3/3 that “draws” a beast (5 mana at best) and summons it

Dangerous if it considers cards with discounted value.
not sure any current deck has space for this.
Maybe Big Beast will use this to tutor the 5 dropps instead of the 8mana spell, but it´s slower and without rush (which is a huge deal with the tarantula).
probably a card for after the rotation at best.
This bringing out Trampling Rhino is legit. Dire Frenzy would be great for more copies and Warsong Wrangler for stat gain.
This also works with Vanndar, so it can tutor the 7 and 8-drops for Big Beast as well if you’ve managed to draw Vanndar early.
Not sure if it would replace Guardian Animals now — it trades an extra summon and Rush for coming down three turns earlier so the tradeoff is a bit better than it might initially seem — but it probably goes in immediately once Guardian Animals rotates.
Basically, this looks like it’s a big step towards rotation-proofing Big Beast Hunter, even if it doesn’t see play immediately.
It’s a “free” 3/3 if you have no beast costing less than 5.
Will be using this for my rat king deck.
It’s a trap card because most of your beasts are 1 drops, I don’t see any way to functionally not include cheap beasts in your deck without having a bad time.
Tunnel trogg and 1 mana 3/2 and tundra rhino sounds. Maybe something for redundancy if you draw both rhinos, or a 2:1 ratio. But it could be solid and all you’d need to drop would be wolpertingers who could easily be replaced by adorable infestations on troggs and 3/2s.
Well that’s a very temporary decision, many cards from the face hunter deck will rotate out in two months time and you’ll be substituting beasts in. Either way I don’t think you want this in your deck rather than Wrangler and if you ran both you could brick in a few ways. Maybe in a budget way if you don’t want to craft Wranglers this could be a viable budget workaround, since you don’t really need Barak either then this is a completely free deck at the cost of about 3% winrate because the Wranglers really are the better card because hunter lacks good 4 drop options.
best card in the expansion ive seen so far. which doesnt say much cause the others are bad, but at least finally a desent card. And Of course it would be for hunter
You’re kidding. This is way better than Wrangler. This doesn’t just draw the card, it immediately puts it into play.
There are two main reasons why Wrangler is way better, firstly because you can discover a beast in your deck so you can always discover trampling rhino, the second is that 4 mana is just such a better slot for this. Also in making the rhino a 7/6 you’re giving it more trample damage. If you want to include pet collector in your deck you’re going to have to make some serious design choices that hinder your overall deck because hunter simply has so many good beasts on 1/2/3 mana that would be kind of underwhelming if brought out along side a 3/3 for 5 mana.
The fact that you play the card instead of just draw it makes it well worth the 1 mana difference, and even giving up… what? Wolpertinger? Also, there’s actually nothing stopping a person from running both. More tutors is always good pretty much.
Well sets are rotating in two months. I realize that 8 cards including rhino are rotating out then too and many of those you run two copies of, so I guess face hunter will changing pretty dramatically anyway since you lose half of your deck. there will be a lot of good beasts you’ll be excluding either way to include this.
Yeah, but if that’s the point of your deck this is an insane power swing.
Like big beasts is already a fine archetype. Doesn’t see much play, but this certainly makes it better.
