New hunter card: collateral damage

This will be strong in rogue; I don’t see any hunter deck wanting to use this, but it’s a pseudo board clear, so I’ll try it, since I like to play slower strategies.

I need to try this with zuljin in spiteful hunter

8 mana is just way too much to pay for this. Like sure, in dream scenario it can do 15 damage to face, but how often is that going to happen?

In the deck I have in mind, I would use this as a board clear to survive till I can play zuljin.
It’s a bad board clear, but probably one of the strongest hunter ever got

If there are less than 3 enemies, would it hit the same enemy multiple times? This card would be much better or much worse depending on answer.

This is a card that is likely going to see much more play when discovered or randomly generated. Azshara treasure, yogg, deck of lunacy, etc. In a vacuum it’s a strong 8 mana spell, but not one you would often run purposely at the start.

dream meme is to twinscale before that and OTK someone through his 1/1s!

but in reality, that doesnt see play in standard i think.

Typically random targeting would lead to it being able to hit the same minion twice, but not if already dead.

I forgot about azshara and the other naga.
This card has some non meme potential in a naga hunter that doesn’t try to end the game on turn 7.

It seems also a cheap deck, since it doesn’t require new legendaries

Great card for thief rogue it deals damage to only enemy minions.

I agree.

No cards from the current set will see play.

Maybe arena.

/facepalm

Dont wanna be that guy but hunter used to have poisonous rushers with cleave/swipe effects.

Probably a turn slow at 8 but if ever hunter gets a reliable way to discount, it’s very playable. Slowly the control Hunter deck is coming together and this could end up being the finisher it needs. I’m more intrigued to see how well the seeds pan out as they are all very strong cards. Could be the build around for a slower control/mid style hunter.

You double cast this with the Naga against 3 x/1 and do 33 damage.

Only if the damage is dealt as a sequence. To the best of my knowledge, Hunter “hit x random enemy minions with y damage” cards don’t. Collateral Damage against a 2 minion board should whiff on the third 6 damage effect.

Ended up being ran in the most powerful version of Big Beast Hunter right now.

I’ve just added one copy to my deck to test it out. Must you have 3 targets to hit, or can it be cast with just one target, or even none? I imagine you cannot cast it with no targets, as that would be totally busted.

So is it very strictly in that there must be at least 3 x targets on board to even be able to cast in the first place?

PS: I think it’s most being used as some reach or something, like playing it into 3 minions with as little health as possible. If we lose our board, then it can be fatal as Hunter doesn’t have a ton of ways to draw, neither. With this in mind, a little bit of damage from hand cannot hurt.

It definitely cannot be used if your opponent has no minions. If your opponent has one minion it will be hit once, I believe, as the card seemingly reads.

Rare · Spell · Murder at Castle Nathria · Deal 6 damage to three random enemy minions. Excess damage hits the enemy hero.

This is also seeing play in duels. It’s also a big discover option for thief builds. Has come in clutch for my wife several times.

No, it works with a minimum of one minion, but each minion gets hit just once.
Note that it was bugged on release, recasting the first “shot’s” damage to face with Twinbow Terrorcoil active:
