Blackthorn’s hero power only costs 1 gold to get TWO blood gems, TWICE per turn.

I just won a lobby with Blackthorn without trying. I was just trying to complete the ‘Use your hero power 20 times’ quest. I really thought it would only be good in early game but no.
To be fair the original was already very strong.
There was no need for a New version.

Well, what’s strong and what isn’t is subjective. The old hero power was extremely bad in my opinion because you had to have the gems buffed and you had to get to T6 to get full value from the power.
Now it’s overall more versatile, I feel like. Not that it matters. They might as well replace all minions with a 1000/1000 and whoever attacks first wins.

It’s a trade off. Before they were part of the leveling process and held them so basically they were free. Now they are very awkward to buy and use unless you have gotten them buffed. Even then they have to be seriously buffed to be worth spending a gold on a single gem.
Keep in mind you could also just fall completely flat and never get a Quillboar build going. Now you are left with a useless hero power. It’s still a gameble to play him IMO.
As some streamers say, a Hero Power is infinitely better when it’s free. 
Now, I honestly don’t know how good the hero is, but I used to play the old version just for the advantage he gave when power-leveling. One of the new heroes kinda outdoes him now in this aspect since they can buff for FREE every turn, so Blackthorn definitely got the short end of the stick for a while.
The new Hero Power isn’t something to write about. Unless you do some serious Gem buffing or make a comp based around Gem/Spell synergies, you basically will be an inferior C’thun. Probably will find success in Quilboar/Naga/Dragon/Mech lobbies. Anything else, meh.

All I know is the older version was complete garbage and one of the lowest performing heroes in BGs and it desperately needed an update.
Its HP was so weak in comparison to what other heroes had. It was completely out of balance weak.
It’s probably coincidental. I was just surprised when I won lobby while trying to complete quest only. And this was my first time using this new hero power.

I wasnt aware they had made it a multiple use per turn power. I know they updated blood gem dynamics with the buffing of the gem values which is really useful. I only wish the super rare to find minions like the beat taunter that deathrattles nearby battlecries could ever be found when battlecry minions like the bloodgem buffing one is in the game. I seem to only encounter that taunter when almost 0 battlecry minions even exist in the tavern at all. And when I do find it, it will sit uselessly for upwards of 8+ turns in hand until I encounter my first battlecry minion at all. Seriously, very very very few battlecry minions seem to exist anymore. combined with my salt water levels of RNG luck, results in me being forced to pair that taunter with the little cup minion that gives +1/+1 to 3 tribes. lol. What I wouldnt give to find that demon elemental that buffs the tavern… but alas, my rng seems to give me the taunt givers if I find any battlecry at all. resulting in making the minions I least want to have taunt get taunt lol. No thanks, my Baron doesnt require that. much less does he need it twice lol.
I’d love if they actually gave Deathwing this kind of treatment, such as make his HP only benefit him after upgrading to “X” tier
I didn’t mean to say anything about your post, it’s just my way of saying that “I find the Hero Power meh.” If you like it and have fun playing the hero, go for him. I have played my fair share of “weak” heroes only to have pretty good performance with them. All that matters is if you enjoy playing him.
If you like him, maybe you should try new Cariel. She doesn’t scale as hard, but she scales pretty fast.
