New hearthstone classes

Do you think this game will release any new champs/classes in the future? Would it be too much of a hassle? What would a new class even look like at this point? (Card wise) Also do you think the releases of new classes would help balance things more, or break things even worse?

They’ve got the core classes from WoW mostly settled, with Monk being the real outlier. That said, both Demon Hunter and Death Knight were balancing disasters when they were launched, and it just signs them up for continual work trying to make yet another class’s cards and decks viable.

Given the age of Hearthstone, I don’t expect new classes, no.

I don’t know. I think if it seems profitable, then yes.
I dislike the new classes we have, but adding a 12th might actually bring a way to balance the game a little better imo, as 11 doesn’t work mathematically to my mind.
There are 3 basic playstyles: Aggro/ midrange /control
(4x3.) It doesn’t work nearly as well as 9 classes did, (3x3) but it might be better.
But will they do it? Who knows. I give equal odds on this game going into maintenance mode.

I really don’t want them to.

You aren’t going to get additional cards in each pack, but the number of cards in a set will increase. You will also be statistically less likely to find cards for the heroes you currently prefer to use.

Adding classes doesn’t do good things for players.

i imagine at least Monk is on the way within the next couple-ish years with a possibility of Evoker in a couple more years after that. Or however long it takes em to design those classes + their class specific cards.

"But they can’t even balance classes now omgggg!!! :sob: "

If that’s the case then adding in a couple more classes ain’t gonna do anymore damage lol

They cant balance the ones they have

This is exactly how I feel about it. Furthermore, it might open up some new styles of play and breathe new life/strategies into cards that have long been considered obsolete. I would say that’s a win-win

For the realistic approach.

Monk will appear at some point.

Oddly enough at release in WoW both of these classes were equally as broken. It took quite a bit of changes to make people just stop all playing DK on release. The class could basically do it all on release.

I didn’t realize people stopped playing Dk… Saw piles of them on ladder this week.

Maybe within the next 2 years Monk will be released. Depends on if they have the resources to balance 12 classes at once.

Do you mean Hearthstone or WoW? I was talking about World of Warcraft.

I certainly hope not.

It doesn’t add anything to the game beyond new art.

It makes you need to buy more packs per set as now there are 10 more cards in the mix.

It doesn’t really add anything that they can’t do in a different class.

I’d be much more open to more customizable hero powers on the existing heroes than making a new class at this point. What would a monk do that Demon Hunter or rogue doesn’t already do? Does it need a new class for that?

Ditto with envoker compared to priest or mage.

Even DH/DK didn’t really create any new strategies that hadn’t been already circulating in the game forever. DH is just demon flavored rogue and DK usually just plays out like every other token/burn/control deck based on their rune choice.

I’d rather just get new cards I can play in existing classes than trying to carve out design space for a new one, which has already failed to be compelling twice. (That’s not to say people don’t play them, it’s in the sense that you could swap the class and art on any of their decks and it would still make sense, so is that really worth making the game more expensive to play?)

This is long overdue to be in game. There should be at least two options for each hero to choose from during deck building by this point.

Blood mage could be a class they release in the future with a mechanic around paying life instead of mana or some ratio of mana and life, but I think most of the bases are already covered.

blood mage is not a WoW class though. unless they add it to WoW it seems highly improbable that they would add it to Hearthstone regardless of the “Heroes of Warcraft” label being removed.

Blood mages are in the lore of the Warcraft universe.
There’s also monks.

If they think there’s cash in it for them, then they’ll do it, greed is good

The main reason that the new classes are broken at release is that the design philosophy is to power creep the hell out of the newest expansion and obsolete the previous expansion combined with slap discover on everything. This makes the new class has only cards that are way better than the field of the other classes which have to carry around a number of expansions worth of garbage filler cards.

They could release monk in the next 2-3 years as a last hurrah and to complete the main classes from WoW.
