Looks like a set filler to me ,just horrible think about the backfire potential lmao.

Quest Warlock might like it. Hits the opponent, that’s good. Hits me, well, that works too.

The Warlock players need to be high to play an 8 mana card they cant discount.
Meme card , it will make a fun video when all 12 hits backfire on face thats it.

it’s almost as if they are running out of ideas…

leaving aside the power level of the card (bad) for the life of me i can’t see what makes this an “epic”.

Next step for blizz is an epic/leg that literally has no text at all and is just stats.

Looks ok/interesting to run for fun/trolling because it has good stats, would be much less interesting looking if it was just like 7/7 stats.

Could have niche/meme use if Dormant cards that do things when they take damage are printed. Like a new Acolyte of Pain that starts dormant, you could try to line it up or something. Or a Warrior/Warlock weapon that increases in X whenever you take damage.

On paper that is epic worth. It’s got both stats and a quote unquote strong battlecry. Usually a lesser card has only one or the other.

In practice the randomness is a huge turn off, but I wouldn’t put it past the creativity of HS players to figure something out (ok fine, the creative of a few HS players, and everybody else netdecks ;p)

Consider all the high power 8-10 cost cards that don’t see play right now. Yeah, this thing is hopeless.

This definition is obsolete.
Now this is the definition of a “good playable card”, like the 1 mana 2/2 pirate that discounts the next weapon.

It looks like a common effect to me.
An epic should have an interesting effect that comes in hand in some particoular situation, or a really strange effect.
We saw cards like this in the past, with less stats/damage/cost; this is epic just because it’s stronger than the “past bomber”, but it’s uninteresting for the point HS has reached.

To complete the circle, they may also release a legendary bomber in this miniset :joy: it can’t be worse than this (maybe it will have an effect like “start of the game: your random effects only targets enemy”. That would make many old bad cards interesting)

I don’t disagree, but I think every rarity can have interesting cards, but then again I would include things like tech card (weapon break, secret tech, silence, etc) as interesting effects, and secrets. Jade golem mechanic back in the day had cards of multiple rarities. When baku/genn was a thing, there were like two or three common/rare cards that worked with the same odd/even check.

Looking back in the library, there is at least one other card in the past where the effect isn’t that unique. Un’goro blazecaller, 7 mana 6/6 epic battlecry deal 5 if you played elemental last turn. IIRC it did have uses as in an elemental deck you’re probably curving out and pressuring, and that extra 5 direct damage helps a lot.

Slightly more unique is crowd roaster, 7 mana 7/4 deal 7 to minion if you hold a dragon. Again, it’s just plain “deal damage” with a condition that’s seen before. But that card too is epic, and it saw some play as direct nuking is often useful.

On the flip side right now we have battelground battlemaster. It’s arguably more unique than shaman’s own windfury spell (it’s an aura, not just buff one minion). It enables silly things. Yet it’s common.

I do think maddest bomber has some potential to enable interesting things than blazecaller. I’m thinking of OG malygos. Spell damage is something we’ve seen before, but maly has so much of it in one card it enabled interesting plays. So maybe scaling up the bomber effect to 12 (aka you not just going up to 11, you went past it) may also enable certain things that the more sane bombers could not.

It could work if it’s like the watchpost legendary: make it scale on how many bomber cards you’ve played this game. “deal 10 random damage, repeat for each bomber you’ve played this game” Something something yo dawg i herd u lik bombs

what trash. Would have been pretty interesting if they made it a “dormant 1” or frenzy, or even deathrattle, so you could wind up with this through random hijinx.

Battlecry forces you to actually run an 8 mana dead card in your deck. Games are decided at turn 4-5. IF you make it to 8, you are clutching to life, desperate for every draw to be perfect and impactful.
