I think I heard that the developers want the game to be more minion-based. Isn’t this an excuse to make a deck with exactly two minions?
I think it is more that the minions and colossals are so powerful this expansion that one needed a card to rein them in.
Seems broken because it’s a Tech Card and you can slam it on turn 3 against the average Face Hunter/Aggro Deck board and be happy.
Wish it was like:
Smothering Starfish
1/6
Rush
Deathrattle: Silence all minions
^ so you can’t just slam it against aggro. You can pop it yourself turn 5ish, but you have to commit resources like with Showstopper.
6/5 Star Power, seems broken on curve vs a lot of aggro decks.
Well; it doesn’t affect hero power.
Yeah. I’m definitely finding a way to run this.

I don’t get it.
2 manas 2/1 silence and beast tag was considered too strong.
4 manas 4/3 silence was HoFed.
And now this? Put all previous card in garbage tier in comparison?

This is why showstopper didn’t see play despite aggro decks being buff focused. Too slow and too many resources to activate fast.
Glad we are getting good tech cards to deal with paladin.

Yay!!@!!! Priest isn’t the only class with a Shard of silence anymore

those are single targeting ones …showstopper is the closest one to this card and barely saw play
It barely saw play cause it was a deathrattle though, the battlecry makes this card sooooo much better. Showstopper was basically a two card combo to silence minions and you didn’t have a minion left behind.
Edit: there is a reason that most priest decks run Shard if silence and its not just the tradeable aspect though that makes it a lot better

One of the strongest cards I’ve seen for this expansion. Freeze Shaman stans are GOOPED.

I can’t get over how this is only 3 mana.
This is going to see a nerf to 4 mana I’m sure.

Agree completely. It definitely should be on the same line as Okani (also fun potential interplay there).

This imba card shows again the insane powercreep lvl of hearthstone lmao
Neutral card lmao

If this card had been revealed as:
Azsharan Starfish
3 cost neutral 2/4
Battlecry: Silence a minion. Put a Sunken Starfish on the bottom of your deck.
Sunken Starfish
3 cost 2/4
Battlecry: Silence all minions.
… I still would have thought it was powerful. This thing is simply bad design. It makes abilities sad. Mass silenced should be expensive or class-specific. Or gated behind dredge, or something.

Finally a candidate for Glide 2.0. I love how people center the meta around value decks when they have been nothing but the most overpowered mana cheating engines in the game, and having a decent 3 mana counter to it and they scream “they want to kill my decks”. The new paladin cards can literally give like +10/+10 for free, and the effect can be copied and copied by Kotori and all kinds of synergy cards, and they can discover even more copies.
Since when did tech cards with even good stats saw play? Hearthstone is long beyond the point where 3 mana is worth it for only a niche situational effect against maybe 1 or 2 decks that really care about buffs or abilities, sticked on a bad body.

So Hearthstone had no removal back then?
You don’t play this game for some imaginary mana value, you play it to win. This card clogs up your draws and on average, maybe gives something -2/-2. At best it stops an overpowered Paladin deck from overwhelming you with their insane mana cheating with the new +5/+5 Taunt divine shield, big unstoppable divine shield minions and insane buffs that would cost a control deck an entire hand to remove.
Abilities? You always expected your minions to die after a couple of turns or even right on the next turn if they were powerful or had important abilities. Silence doesn’t even get rid of the body. This card is also super inflexible.
Cards that destroyed secrets, punished playing minions or countered spells never really destroyed those decks because they only gave a slight advantage in certain situations (even in those specific matchups), and ruins your deck otherwise.
This game is Hearthstone, not valuestone, not curvestone, nor myminionsstayalivestone.
I’m going to give my hot take on this card:
It’ll be everywhere in the first few weeks to counter the big bad Colossal minions, but the problem is that this card doesn’t actually make the stats on said minions go away. Also, there are likely going to be enough burn/aggro decks that really don’t care about the silence. Finally, decks will become more optimized and realize that running a tech card that whiffs far more often than it hits isn’t worth a deck slot.
Fast forward to 2 months into the meta. You’re playing your Handbuff Paladin that everyone thought was going to break the meta but actually was kind of trash. You run into the one guy on ladder who hasn’t played since the first week of the expansion and he still runs this card. You lose to its effect and race to the forums to complain about this card.
Overall, I’d say this card is a 2/5. In 2 months, I may or may not write a rant post on here about how toxic it is.

I will probably try to run this card. I don’t have the technical knowledge that most of the regulars here do, but I have always thought of tech cards as band aids for bullet holes.
They clog up your deck and slow your win condition.
But; the game is so power crept I don’t know how you survive without running them.

Typical. They release the tech after what you want to tech against rotates.
