New: Classic Format and core set

Interested in Vanilla HS? This might be your lucky day.

On top of that, we’re getting details in the Basic/Classic revamp, now referred to as the Core set.

I am going to take this opportunity to say I called this happening exactly a month ago and am going to take this opportunity to gloat about it. I asked Iksar about this in one of his twitter AMAs and got no reply. I know he doesn’t answer everything but what I asked about was so close to what they announced I refuse to call that a coincidence

Reading through it, the entire Core set will be 100% free and obtained by leveling your classes to level 10 (like how the Basic set works now) and all of the Core neutrals will be earned by having a total of 60 levels across all classes. So by the time you earn the class cards for six classes, you’ll have the full neutral collection as well.

100% free.

I was worried after the duels failure they would not do this but it looks like they will. Looking forward to it.

important note for all the hoarders out there:
" How do Classic Packs work with Standard now?

  • Classic packs still contain Classic cards, which will now be usable in the Classic format and in Wild as part of the Legacy Set. Classic cards that aren’t part of the Core Set will not be usable in Standard. We’re adjusting the rewards for a wide variety of quests/achievements/etc. that previously awarded Classic packs to have Standard-usable rewards instead."

Yeah, was just discussing that over on our Discord.

We can freely open those Classic packs we’ve been hoarding for the revamp, since anyone the full Basic set already unlocked will be getting the entire Core set immediately upon release.

Also note:

Golden versions of Core Set cards can be unlocked by completing Achievements associated with winning games as each class.

You can unlock the entire Core set in gold 100% for free.

Kinda odd since it says it’s based on the wins achievements.

Maybe some cards will require you to win 1000 games ? Doubtful, will probably cap at 500 on each class for all golden rewards.

Altho I think this is interesting, I feel like people will get bored of it real fast.

Wait I’m confused.
Does this mean that we will be compensated for what we already have?
Can I disenchant all the classic cards that I have to get extra dust?

I can’t wait to see so many pairs of rose-tinted glasses get crushed in fits of rage, to be honest.

“Classic Hearthstone was the best!!”

Ok bro, go play that.

You can disenchant them for their dust cost, but the Hall of Fame as we know it is going away and Classic will be getting its own format.

You will, however, be given the full Core set if you meet the bssic criteria for free every rotation.

IDK how she knows this, but if its true, then there is still another game mode coming out before rotation.

important part to point out before missinformation begins: they talk about classic format (similar to how standard and wild are formats), they never said classic format is the new gamemode

i will enjoy watching people realise how strong some of the old decks were in proportion to the other decks

So basically Hearthstone 2.0.

Grim patron is not in classic

Makes perfect sense, they can bring back the good priest cards so they can play Shadow Priest and have win conditions instead of being a troll class.

Excited to see how Rogue and Mage shape up.

Wtf… so I won’t get a full refund for my golden base set damn you. Better give me vanish back
