Looks like Dungeoneers are cards that interact with specific spells in the deck and gives you benefits for them.
And this one is bad. What’s up with Blizzard insistence on the elementals that Freeze theme? These cards hardly see any play
Might actually see some play in Mage decks that run Frost spells, 3 mana 4/5 draw 1 is solid.

Interesting that they’re doing a series of spell-school-themed draw minions.
This looks okay. Probably not as good as the Shaman one, but decent. 4/5 stats if you meet the condition and draw a card for 3 mana is reasonably strong.
But I’m not sure what you’d do with a Frost-based deck in the current set, unless there’s more to come. What would be the game plan, aside from slowing down your opponent while playing some small and medium–sized minions?
This could actually be pretty good. 4/5 on turn 3 (2 with coin) with two that freeze seems decent anti-aggro. The frost pool is not terrible right now but it’s hot as good as nature so the shaman one is a lot more likely to trigger.
There’s always Mordresh at the end of the slow endgame tunnel. But Mordresh alone is hardpressed to close games, and any slow deck is under threat of Tickatus Locks.
But Wildfire is a Fire spell, so it would interfere with getting the secondary effect from the Dungeoneer. And without Wildfire, Mordresh is much harder to get to trigger.
And the other draw spells are Arcane or lack a school, so they’d have anti-synergy with this too.
Yes. Definitely seems the Shaman Dungeonneer will be the only playable one so far
I’m 100% ok with that. It’s been too long since someone said that about a shaman card.
One word.
Junk.
Just junk.
This could be played, but only if there’s more freeze synergy in this mini release or in the next expansion, otherwise there isn’t enough follow up to make it close to being worth it.
I’m still not really seeing how Tempo/Freeze Mage is actually supposed to come together. Hopefully there are more unrevealed pieces to that puzzle because right now it doesn’t seem any better than past iterations, which were pretty terrible.
If only they had rush.
That would be something!
not sure if freeze mage will be viable
BUT
if it IS viable, it’s basically a 3 mana 4/5 split over bodies, that can freeze, and also draws a card.
that’s some insane levels of tempo there.
That said, out of all the dungeoneers, mage I feel is the one class that cannot easily run “only frost spells” since a lot of his utility (see draw) is from non-frost spells.
So, even if there’s a freeze mage deck, it wont always “hit”, which is a good thing really, because else it would be an absurd card imo.
I don’t understand the pessimism for this card. It’s good stats on board with draw, and obnoxious freeze effect vs weapon/melee classes. Even if you run some non frost spells, hitting a frost spell >50% would justify running this card.
Just a vanilla 3 mana 2/3 draw a card would’ve been a good card in older Hearthstone times. There was a time when decks would run Vulpeera scoundrel which was discover instead of draw.
Because blizzard never gonna make freeze mage viable.
And even if they accidentally did. It should be nerf in less than a week because of “mage and priest have different standard for balancing”(AKA how much people whine) and this being a card for a freeze deck.
I’m sorry. It’s crap. It has nothing to do with existing decks, so I fail to see why anyone is praising this card.
There is zero synergy and this release won’t bring enough freeze to make a new type of deck imo.
Shaman is going to rise with this release and mage is going to sink like a stone.
It’s subpar stats for it’s cost with draw, with an effect that is barely ever relevant. Also, it’s anti-sinergy with most mage draw.
If someone wanted to Freeze something in the next turn for three mana, they could use cone, deal the same damage to three Minions and be done with It.
Sure, the body is good, but the effect sans the draw is much too slow, and much too conditional.
Exactly. Typical Team 5. They gave mage a junk card that has no synergy with existing decks.
