Really, really tired of this. I would wager it’s fairly probable REz Priest is one of the pet classes of the devs. This is way worse than the op bullcrap of DR Boom and bomb/mecha warrior and hunter last year. You basically have to almost always either have a deck filled with board wipes or outlast them into fatigue in the same style as solo adventure bosses. Primarily, this is due to the fact that you allow them to have infinite copies of each minion based on every rez, and then either autocast it over and over with something like a psyche split Vargoth or other two card combinations relatively easy to come up with like Wretched REclaimer combined with reborn. The quest is fine, because it takes work to heal that much quickly and players can play smart against it. Buffs are fine too. What isn’t fine is being able to perpetually create buffed reborn Convincing INfiltrators off of this exploit with grave runes and then win by default because few other classes can defend against this. To be fair, at least now Mage has a shot it didn’t before in that you gave Mage devolving missiles. Still, I feel it’s worth mentioning due to the insane ramp being ignored while you seem to nerf most other classes almost constantly. I do understand the draw issue being part of why these decisions were made to begin with. However, I feel that is at least partially countered by the fact that the Priest borrows from other classes and has a pretty good chance of grabbing some kind of draw.
Priest is currently in the trash. Res priest is a tier 4 deck that loses to pretty much anything constructed by an actual player. If you’re playing Aggro, they shouldn’t ever reach turn five. If you’re playing control, you should easily outvalue them. Side note: if you have to fatigue adventure bosses, you aren’t playing the game right.
you are clearly drunk…many decks beat priests. but on the other hand NOTHING beat pure paladin! if something needs a nerf right now its aggro decks and pure pally
I actually beat Pure Paladin quite handily with Big Warrior. You just have to silence/remove their early threats and then you are probably clear.
out of 10 games today i seen 8 pally and 2 rogues im sick of it
If you see so much Paladin and rogue, tech in silence and weapon removal. Ooze and Owl, or any better class options like Magehunter, Silence, Consume Magic, Polymorph, etc.
I think the biggest issue Priest has right now is that the meta is still far from settled. And as long as the meta is in flux, a class like Priest will have trouble finding good lists to run because their cards are primarily designed as being powerful, but narrow in application. This has the bonus effect of making the experience of playing against Priest vastly different for people based on whether or not the Priest deck has the necessary answers to win the game.
Once the meta settles a bit though, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Priest climb up to a comfortable tier 2 position.
Maybe in standard, but not in wild.
Maybe you’re right. Scholomance definitely seems to have more answers for every class and I have seen insane ramp by Paladin and Druid for example. I was mainly referencing Illidan in the context of Adventure bosses.
Cyclone Mage beats pure Paladin. So does Miracle Rogue. Priest can definitely build their deck to beat it if they really want to. Most of all, competent players beat pure Paladin: it does better against opponents who are in lower ranks (though it is not bad at the top). The meta is overall very balanced; everyone but Shaman has competitive decks and none of them are that much better than the rest.
As for Rez Priest. Rogue has Sap and other return to hand effects. Mage and Shaman have Devolving Missiles and Hex/Polymorph. Demonhunter and Priest have silence. Paladin just plays bigger minions, and Warrior barely cares about minions. Over half the classes in the game have effective answers to Convincing Infiltrators, and copying them only really stonewalls certain aggro decks and bad new-player decks; even Murlocs tend to crush rez priest hard. Almost every deck with a good plan to win games will beat Rez priest pretty consistently.
One thing out of those in disagreement I wholeheartedly disagree with: mass Convincing Infiltrator isn’t “really only stalling” in many situations. Granted, it is far easier now with devolving missiles and the like. Still, it does essentially amount to a minion which can be buffed massively and rezzed or destroyed and rezzed repeatedly in order to simulate a massive board wipe while filling your board as priest or for lethal damage very quickly. I’m not saying either that it’s impossible to beat but it is among the hardest if it gets any steam. Part of that is not having enough cards from the new set. I think Devolving Missiles pushed it over the top in terms of actually being able to deal with it for Mage and is part of why Shaman is not top tier, for example, since potentially by the time you draw into or conjure up a Hex the Priest has already psyche split and so forth in my experience. I agree in general too that the meta seems balanced now compared to before. The other point being answers to one Convincing Infiltrator does not equal answers to 3 and so forth. Particularly if you have or need any key minion or whatever. Maybe I just haven’t played HS enough yet.
If someone knows a Rez Priest deck that is climbing well, please shoot me a list!
Otherwise, this thread is misguided. Welcome to Hearthstone, good luck with your practice, and bear in mind that polarized matchups sometimes exist. Priest buffs and resurrection - like, half the class - are not in a good position.
While we’re on the topic, this is my current ‘funnest’ list. Any suggestions for Standard Ranked? I recently dropped a Flesh Giant for the second Fishy Flyer, which is fantastic with Psychopomp.

havent seen rez priest lately many galak or highlander but not a single rez deck since expansion release
Res Priest has been irrelevant for upwards of 5 months, in both Standard and Wild.
I’m playing Priest (but not strictly resurrection) and regularly getting thrashed by Paladin, which is now wonderfully overpowered. I don’t even bother playing Mage because they win nine times out of ten. Priest is not your enemy.
Priest is in the trash?
Isn’t, razakus a top 3 deck in wild, forever, unless a nerf happens?
I think so right?
imagine complaining about the 3rd best deck for the absolute worst class in Standard right now.
Talk about trying to beat a class archtype down that has a winrate lower than any other class that’s struggling to even be relevant.
It’s like talking about how much you dislike poor people because of how they have money.
You’re looking at standard and thinking “Geez, what class/deck type really needs to be looked at because it’s so good and that the DEVS are OBVIOUSLY favoring it” and you pick:
Tier 1
Paladin
Hunter
Rogue
Demon Hunter
Tier 2

Priest <<<<<<<<<< This deck
This is the deck that you think is “Exploiting” mechanics. My goodness.
I was talking about standard - wild priest is a different matter entirely.
I usually go by Vicious Syndicate, which puts Highlander Priest as a probable T2 or better. Galakrond Priest is the Wild West right now, with their best performing list being COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from what it was during launch week of the expansion. And still a lot of experimentation going on.
Point is, Priest is likely better than it looks now statistically. And definitely not as good as it was a few weeks ago, when it was breaking the meta based on pre-Malygos Druid and Paladin dominating most other classes. Priest had the tools to deal with it. But the ladder got aggressive fast in response to those two decks, and Aggro Rogue piled up a bunch of skulls outside it’s door.
well thats a load of BS, i lose constantly with mine.
Rogues, mages, and druids and even some shaman and hunter builds can beat pure paladins regularly.
Of coarse if i get a highroll and all the stars align and i get the right cards off the start i have a good chance but more often then not i get out cheesed by most of the current meta.
