Need more bots in Mercenaries PvP

I played Mercenaries PvP yesterday (know idea why I would do this, glutton for punishment I guess…). Anyway, so there seemed to be only one other player playing for like an hour and I queued up against this same player at least 10 times in a row. I only kept playing because this opponent kept playing the same team comp. that lost again and again (they must have been an even bigger glutton for punishment than me… yeesh). With the mode effectively killed now, there isn’t going to be an increase in the player base so adding bots would make sense for improving the experience of those still playing (however few that is). Given that Blizzard is still selling items for Mercenaries, this seems like the only fair thing to implement. Otherwise the company is knowingly selling items for a game mode that doesn’t actually exist is any meaningful way.

DING DING DING. Now you get it. Do you think Bli$$ard is going to stop selling a sunsetted product that receives no support? LOL, they are going to milk this as long as they can.

I like this new word! New to me, that is. Thanks, @Destruction2.

This is such a wonderful troll. Thank you for the good laugh!

So yes, I’m not unaware that Blizzard is going to do this. What I’m stating is that it would clearly makes sense for them to add bots to Mercenaries PvP so that the company can continue to milk this game mode. Adding bots would cost effectively nothing (they already have them, they just don’t get activate them until one is in the queue for like 10 mins). If the game mode is active, then there are upkeep costs, probably mostly server use, and you’re not going to make more than those costs if only like 1 player ever plays the game and just sits in queue forever.

This is a strange position, Evan. You know the mode was a cash grab, and are making suggestions to further them grabbing cash while playing it. Stop playing it, my man (or sister). This nonsense should not be tolerated by us (you included). There are good games, that are similar enough and better designed, as well as far more customer friendly than this mode.

So I don’t really have a position here… I agree, best case scenario this game mode should never have been launched and should never have tried to sell anything to anyone for money. That said, the game did launch and is still active. So from the perspective of Blizzard, it makes no sense that they wouldn’t just enable more bots so those that are playing it at least have something to play against (rather than just wait in queue for hours and play the same one other person again and again). Thought I was being clear in my initial post, but for clarity, I do not play the game mode other than this one time for curiosity/kicks and I would never spend money on this game mode. I am just so perplexed at the business incompetence of Blizzard and specifically whichever team was allocated to this game mode. I mean it’s a multi-billion dollar company and they can’t find anyone to make just logical decisions? Like they are just going to blow money on upkeep costs forever with zero incentives for anyone to buy anything… That’s weird.

I hear ya. Why not add more bots, there’s really no loss to be had and can help to keep players at least engaged. I tried Mercenaries when it was new, and bought a few packs (or whatever they’re called), until I realized that I’d ultimately be getting unusable coins. I saw the quick fixes to anything that made it possible to advance in the game. Once you see through this mode’s veil (and it doesn’t take long), it’s really hard to play it.

Anywho, I agree with you, they need to add (more) bots so players can play against something.
