Need advice / buying Guide

Hello Hearthstone Community,

i need your advice
I’m a returning Player (returned since 12/2020) and want to play in the standard format (the first time) after Rotation.
Until now I was a f2p/wild player but I have preordered the 50$ Forged in the Barrens bundle.

The problem: I don’t have many packs of the older expansions, here’s the list:
6x Outlands
10x Scholomance
34x Darkmoon
60x Barrens

So my question is how do i allocate my 13k gold to buy Packs? (So i can have a total of 240 Packs)

For example, i can imagine this distribution:
45x Outlands
55x Scholomance
65x Darkmoon
75x Barrens

Or would you maybe go for an even split, with 60 packs each?
Or would you focus even more on the newer expansion?

Do you think 240 Packs is enough for a decent standard collection? Or do i need more?
Let me know what you think and thank you.

EDIT: I bought the Darkmoon Mini Set.

I’d suggest:

  • Wait a week or two into Barrens, to see what decks are good.
  • Find a deck or two from those where you have most of the cards.
  • Prioritize buying packs from expansions that could fill in your missing rares and commons for those decks. You get a complete set of commons at roughly 30 packs, and a complete set of rares at roughly 70 packs, so avoid spending dust to get commons or rares.

Try to only dust extras (or recently nerfed cards where you get full value).

All else being equal, Barrens cards will be playable in standard for two years, while the others will rotate out in one year.

That’s definitely a good advice. Thanks for that.

My original thought was, “Ok, i will dump all my gold and then save up until the next expansion comes out.” And I’ll have to use dust to craft the missing cards for my decks. But that’s probably not the wisest investment.

Does anyone have another approach?

Don’t buy anything now, wait for the meta to be set. Then choose a deck which you would like to play and buy packs that can drop you missing cards.

If going for overall, I would say something like

55 Outlands
60 Scholomance
50 Darkmoon
70 Barrens

And some classes favour cards from certain expansions. Eg: for Paladin, Ashes of Outland, since the Libram cards are all there. But depending on how many packs you open, you might not get all the cards you want.
