My off meta match of the day

Them highlander paladin. Not the most meme deck, but it’s not the usual handbuff or flood.

Me big demon DH. Yup. The deck sucks vs most decks that have any sort of early game, loses to BSM, among other things, but this is probably one of the match ups where it can win.

I had good luck on turn 1 discovering snake eyes from oasis outlaws, which I choose a panda in hopes of bouncing it for value, and manage to pull it off.

He caught on that I wasn’t aggro so he did a turn 5 tarim to buff one of his things, trying to push, but by then I started being able to play big demons and damage from hand. Not having dinky minions to lifesteal + kill is probably a bad match for him.

What really came through for me is demonic deal. Lifesteal being nice aside, first time it put a magtheridon which let me keep him from starting a board and chipping face.

Got one good smack to the face with inquistior, but then he reno’ed the inquitor plus my dormant mag… but then I drew the mag I started in my deck. The face chip continues.

He played the cheese from his gorgonzormu. 6 drops, two of which had lifesteal. But then I had gnomelia for a while, and I minimized him to only healing for like 4 before mag’s AoE cleared his board again (2 from gnome + 3 still potent enough, his highlander deck isn’t fielding enough teeth)

That said, I’m also running low on health myself.

But then another RNG pulling through moment: blind box without outcast randomly gave me window shopper. The initial 5 cost demon wasn’t used, but the mini? Another mag. I was able to keep clearing his board (so I don’t take damage) while chipping at him.

Final RNG moment is my second demonic deal. Wish it healed fro more but better than nothing, and gave me an all terrain voidhound.

This is important later as I manage to do a Marin → draw 3, and that gave me my climbing hook plus through fel and flames. So that’s 5 weapon swing on first turn (Marin on field meant weapon didn’t lose durability) and next turn I rushed my voidhound, plus chaos strike, for a 12 attack hero swing for lethal (he finally manage to get a 5/4 lifesteal on the board too, but he played other minions so my voidhound could rush those)

Rather than the usual netdeck vs netdeck, matches like these make me smile (though I wonder if my opponent feels the same, losing to a sudden 12 damage smack which came mostly out of RNG)

That was an epic match! Sounds like you had a solid strategy with Big Demon DH, and it paid off despite the usual struggles against early game decks. Pulling off the demonic deals and getting Magtheridon to disrupt their board must have felt so satisfying! Love how you managed to chip away at them while maintaining control, especially with all the RNG moments coming through for you. That final 12-attack hero swing for lethal was the perfect finisher. I can see why matches like these would make you smile—way more exciting than your standard netdeck grind! GG!
