Howdy, everyone. I recently placed in Legend, rank 292 on Standard. I took a screenshot, because it’s the highest that I’ve ever been ranked. I made the run to Legend in about 24 hours from the rank reset. I was very selective of the deck that I chose to make the climb. I was able to get from low bronze to low diamond in about 2 hours, approximately. I selected Pain Warlock as my deck to climb with. I was helped by a fair amount of win streaks and bonus stars during the climb. The slog from low diamond to rank 292 Legend, however, was a different story. I switched decks a fair amount, going with Secret Hunter for a while (the deck that got me to Legend last month), then Fatigue Warlock, and even Wheel Handlock for a bit, before eventually settling back on Pain Warlock again. The thing is, there are soooo many greedy AF druid decks in diamond and Legend. I think Pain Warlock is the only answer to them. Although I have Pirate Demon Hunter, I don’t use it much. One thing I will also say is just how many turn 9 Yogs I ran into. Holy macrel, EVERYONE has Yog and EVERYONE always plays it on 9 or as soon as your board is well developed. It’s soooo freaking annoying how saturated the game is with that card.
Anyway, I want to point out a few things:
- You can make the climb from bronze to diamond (and get most of the free bonus packs and cards) within a few hours, if you play well and select the right deck.
- The climb to Legend can be made within a day.
- Aggro decks are generally the best decks to climb the ladder with.
If you’re struggling to win with aggro decks, I will give you this piece of advice that will probably up your win percentage by 20-30 points: go for the face more. Focus less on trading with your opponent’s minions.
